In 1988, G.I.Joe saw the introduction of a few large vehicles – The Cobra B.U.G.G., the G.I.Joe Rolling Thunder and an aircraft that still adorns many collections to this day, the G.I.Joe Phantom X-19 Stealth Fighter.
The X-19 was loosely based off of actual plans (as most vehicles were). The Phantom came with it’s pilot, Ghost Rider, who as per original marvel comic, was easily forgettable.
Thanks to HissTank Forum Members gijoeforlife and viper934, we now have comparison pictures of the U.S., UK and Brazilian versions. Sure, not the 50 shades that I eluded to, but still enough to enjoy the subtle differences between each piece.
For instance, did you know that the Estrela version has a green canopy, or that the Action Force version was a lighter shade of gray? Join us after the jump for a history lesson and to share your thoughts on this awesome vehicle and it’s different variations.

Got this in today and absolutely love it! The bombardeiro laser anti-radar(that's a mouthful)
Color variances(To the U.S./canada X-19, don't have a UK or rubiplas to compare): Grey is lighter, has less blue tint to it. Emerald green glass(also believe there is a blue glass variant). The yellowish greenish parts are less neon and a shade or two more green.
Mold differences: Uses the lever that the UK(and rubiplas) x-19 has, much nicer than the pull action lever on the U.S./canada version.
Decal differences: White is more bright, very nice looking comandos em acao(later version) logo with red white and blue stripes. Ghost rider ommitted from decals
and the pics!
the U.S. missiles(the one I'm holding) are more neon, the glowing is not from the lighting.
the difference in the white(note the ommited ghost rider on the brazilian decal)
note the lever
the copyright info. Note the "ESTRELA S.A." about an inch below the hasbro info

First, there are times when I have bought beat up boxes with the intention of opening them. However, more commonly, I receive a box that I couldn't judge its condition perfectly to begin with or a box gets beat during shipping. I am pretty anal about condition so when this happens I usually open them and the boxes find their place in the closet.
It really doesn't upset me when these things happen because with a lot of foreign joes there is no source to see exactly what is in the box. So it always fun as hell opening this kind of stuff up. It also sucks having sealed things that I can't open that could potentially hold something significantly different then its domestically released counterpart.
Here is a perfect example from recently. I bought an action force x-19 that I had every intention of keeping sealed, but the box wasn't as perfect as I thought. I suspected it would have some color variance because most uk stuff does, so I had no problem opening her up. The body color was pretty different and the green was a dull yellow, although its very hard to tell in pictures.

Very nice!!! I love this bird in all it's different shades and formats. The only minor gripe I could mention is the wheels, the tyres could be a lot better - Like I say though - minor gripe. Overall this bird is beautiful!!!

I am from Brazil and I have a X-19 from Brazil. Mine has blue windows for sure.
It is in pieces together with other lots of toys on parent's attic. I need to find a better place, than restore them, than survive the next years with my mom complaining that I collect joes and am fat and have no kids etc, etc ,etc...

What an absolutely beautiful piece. I've always loved the green tint over the blue.
89PILOT, I couldnt agree with you more. This is one of my favorite aircraft from the entire G.I.Joe Mythos. So much, in fact, that it was the first item I re-purchased when restarting my ARAH collection.

The pull down and back lever was also available in late US versions, it isn't an enhancement thats born in the UK.
There are shades of gray variations for US released to more closely match the pictured AF X-19.
