Ricardo Hazell of AllHipHop.com recently talked to Marlon Wayans about his new movie Haunted House. During their talk, the Rise Of Cobra came up. Interestingly enough, Wayans had this to say(WARNING: Though this has been rumored for a while and maybe Wayans is joking or maybe not, the following could be considered a possible spoiler):
“I’m not in it. Rip Cord steps on a landmine. They blew his black ass up,” said Wayans in a half joking manner. “The last one they realized the black guy was the hero of the movie. So, they said ‘You know what? We’re going to do the sequel just so we can fix that. Let’s kill the black guy’.”In addition, Wayans is glad to have been written out out of the movie:
“I always say to people that there are lessons and blessings,” he explained. “It’s one of the greatest blessings ever for me to be written out of that franchise because it gives me a chance to be creative. I hold my head up. I don’t sulk. I put my head down and made my first movie. I obviously had a ball making it, and this is like my coming out party. This is my ‘Control’ album. Hopefully it’s not that bad album Janet put out there.”Last month we learned that his partner in crime from the Rise Of Cobra, Channing Tatum, also wanted to be written off in the movie.

One of the things I find funny about that statement is the fact that all things considered....Marlon WAS one of the high points of that film.
Yes it was disappointing...yes we hated Channing etc, etc, etc, but Marlon who really didn't play any character identifiable with G.I. Joe except by name only did his part fine...he was comic relief which he pulled off.

What an ass. I couldn't stand him in RoC. I actually didn't mind Duke at all in comparison.

I hated him in ROC and he was the worst part of it IMO. He was horribly cast to play one of my favorite characters and I'm still pissed. It is a blessing to me that he is out.

I liked him in the movie as well. I dont mind what he said here at all either. After all the stupid hate directed towards him and his character he can have his say.
Flint Faireborn says
His comments strike me as odd.
THE RED SHADOWS says
sounds bitter if anything
I think, had they offered him a part, he would have taken it in a second. He is just mad about getting written out.
I didnt have a problem with him in the first movie. There was much much worse in it than his part.

no marlon wayans...the world breathes a collective sigh of relief...

I actually liked this character. I believe he is obviously bitter about it. I think it's BS how they kill of most from the first movie.
