Merry Christmas Everyone! Here’s a little Christmas Present for the Joe fans, especially the fans of G. I. Joe Live Action Movie Franchise.
Director Jon M Chu sat down with Coming Soon for a bit of a chat regarding G. I. Joe 3. Mr. Chu says that not only is the world building still coming together, but they have many surprises in store for the fans.
“I love being active in world-building, so we’re working on “G.I. Joe 3″ right now. We’re designing tons of stuff, which takes a little bit, but to me, that’s obviously where I like to push myself and where I want to be for a long time and get to know better…I’m excited to bring in new characters and fun things beyond Bruce and Dwayne that we’re working on and some great villains, but we’re forming those ideas now. I’m really excited – it’s going to be a whole ‘nother level.”Regarding Channing Tatum’s (Duke’s) death, the director said:
“It all gets carried away again. They asked me about Channing and I don’t know. You never know in these movies, and that’s all I said, and suddenly it became “Channing Tatum might be back.” To me, every possibility is open and we’re writing the script right now and we’re figuring everything out. It’s an extremely low possibility when you kill somebody like that, it’s pretty much it, but you never know with “G.I. Joe.” We did that with Storm Shadow, too.”Though no release date is set for the movie, Mr. Chu says they’re hoping to move into production next year.
“I think we’re going to be shooting next year. We’re pretty motivated to get that up.”

Sounds good. I want to know who the "villains" are. I guess I'm a sheep, but man I get excited for these movies.

I feel when people don't give us a direct answer about a characters fate it means yeah they will be back but I don't want to ruin the surprise. But here I think Chu being honest and doesn't know if Duke will return somehow.

To be honest, I really hope Duke remains dead (and he is one of my favorite characters). I just think that bringing him back in any means would just cheapen the death they wrote-----AGAIN!. This character has now made the ultimate sacrifice 2 times - once for his bro falcon in 87 but as we all know was only in a coma after being speared in the heart by Serpentor and then for Flint in Retaliation getting him out of the way of an exploding truck. They have Roadblock in a good position as squad leader and Flint can really come into his own. The characters are in place and if need be bring in some that were left out this time like Scarlett or Hawk. If its absolutely needed for Duke to be back make it flashback scenes to establish Falcon as a character out for revenge against cobra and have Tatumn guest start this way but still have Duke himself be gone but not forgotten.
I still can't wait for the next one to be made cause I am really liking where Mr.Chu has taken the story. Just no Freaking zombies!!!!!!!!

Please leave Duke dead!

General hawk should lead the Joes
Storm shadow becomes a Joe for good
Cobra commander cures himself into a human but has a snake voice

Please keep Duke dead and bring Destro back! Destro should seek revenge on Cobra Commander for leaving him in the Coffin ruins. Here is where the Iron Grenadiers come into play. Also they should put some new Joes in of course to bolster their ranks after the wiping out of 95% of the team. My picks are Beach Head, Crazylegs, Stalker, Lifeline, Mutt and Junkyard, Deep
Six, Lift Ticket.

I always get a kick out of these so-called writers and producers who always say they were 'fans of G.I.Joe' from back in the days. You wouldn't know it if you watched their movies of G.I.Joe.
This is G.I.Joe. How or why would they kill off Duke? Duke is supposed to be the lead 'man of action' on the G.I.Joe team. At least since 1983! 30 years. Bruce Willis just stood around and collected a paycheck in the last film and everything hinged on the Rock; albeit, the Rock was exemplary in Retaliation but Channing Tatum and the Rock had an undeniable chemistry. Killing off Duke would be an extremely bad move.
Hopefully Chu and his bosses will take some better queues from the IDW and DD comics this time. They have such a wealth of good story that the usual brain-dead formulaic Hollywood rigamarole isn't necessary.
Here's to hoping they actually make a great script this time instead of falling down the usual path of mediocrity.
