Ubisoft‘s Toy Soldiers: War Chest video game featuring G. I. Joe and Cobra forces will be hitting retailers next week on August 11th.
Developed by Signal Studios, the game immediately caught the attention of the fans of G. I. Joe and Masters Of The Universe, since the game features iconic toys from the franchises.
The official site is now live as well and is bringing the following description on G. I. Joe:
“G.I Joe is the code name for a highly-trained special mission force. Led by brave field commander Duke and armed with a huge arsenal of weapons and fighting spirit, this team works together on the frontlines to stop evil it its path.”
The game will be available on PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
The trailer which was originally shown at this year’s SDCC is also out now. Checkout Cobra in action, after the jump.

A new trailer for "Toy Soldiers: War Chest" has just been released, focusing on COBRA and the AC armies. The trailer gives us a few quick looks at some more COBRA units like the HISS tank and Trubble Bubbles.

Signal Studios, the developers behind the game, did a webcast today on Twitch and showed off more of the game including the Joe and COBRA armies. You get a chance to see more of the units in-game as well as hear what one of the devs comments on what the design teams process was initially when they learned they were going to incorporate G.I. Joe into their game. You can check out the footage here, and the G.I. Joe commentary starts at the 10:37 mark. Enjoy.

Is there any information on where to get the PC release? Since its digital only I assumed it would be available via Steam, but the Ubisoft website only has links to retailers handling the console releases.

So far we have seen Mobats, Havocs, Vamps, Watch towers, and Jumps on the Joe side and for Cobra we have seen the Hiss, Trouble Bubbles, Stuns, Stingers, Bunkers, and Rattlers. This is going to be bloody awesome!

After seeing the game in action I only have a couple of complaints:
1) It's way too easy to completely decimate the entire defending team using one laser turret in your own base.
2) A.I. puts up almost no challenge whatsoever so online is the only way to go.
3) The vehicles are awesome but I was disappointed to see when you call in a V.A.M.P. or M.O.B.A.T. it's not Clutch and Steeler driving. Despite the fact you see Clutch on the box art when the vehicle deploys, (awesome feature btw), it's just Grunt characters at the wheel.
4) Totally minor nitpick but I'm a real stickler for details and I noticed that Tan Clutch has a green helmet. :S

Any one have any idea when the PC version will be made available on Steam? I had assumed it would be available today since they didn't list a separate release date for PC, but its still not up.
