It’s been a while since Hasbro applied for a G. I. Joe Trademark. Just last week, they have applied for a rather old yet famous one at the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
On November 16th, Hasbro has filed for the Kung Fu Grip trademark which has now become sort of iconic when it comes to the G. I. Joe franchise. The name became famous with the G. I. Joe: Adventure Team series.
Trademark Details:
- Registration Number: 86821596
- Date: November 16, 2015
- Description: Toy action figures and accessories for use therewith
We do not know why Hasbro suddenly applied for this trademark, but at a recent Google Hangout session, the company told that they are vigorously trying to protect their trademarks.

Given that the last time we saw the name used was on the 2007 Sigma Six/GI Joe 8" line (with some really awesome stuff), I'm chalking this up to a trademark protection at this stage.
