The only thing interesting about this issue was that it exclusively featured female characters. Otherwise pretty boring. Not sure what the point of it all was, but I'll try to stay optimistic that its setting up for something big in 229...

Does this mean that "G.I. JOE: Declassified" is now canon? Because that's my take on it. Which makes me wonder if "Frontline" #s 1-4 are canon also?

I found this so far from boring. It's riveting, seeing all the pieces being moved into position.
Plus, honestly, if you don't find an issue with completely female characters important...Good Lord, it's a VERY important comic.
Because it's not a tokenistic "this is exceptional" tone throughout.
They just happen to all be women. Because, you know, women do all that stuff all the time, and Larry gets it.
But beyond that, the issue was tight, well-written, well-drawn and just a really good comic.

I find the female aspect of it very cool. Unfortunately nothing else did anything for me. I just feel like we have set up after set up after set up only to be disappointed by a weak payoff. This was just another set up...

I liked the Shooter part, but was left wanting more.

Larry has publicly stated that ddp's g.i. joe declassified and ddp's seven issues of storm shadow are a part of the marvel/idw hama canon. the first four issues of frontline are not because 155 1/2 negated that arc and larry admitted it was the worst writing he had ever done as ddp basically plotted the tale out for him. as for those hating this issue, i have to ask why? i thought the first five pages should have been two or three at the most but all the other sub-plots and human moments were , imo, very nicely done. i agree we did not receive what we felt we were promised concerning cwo but larry doesn't write for the trade. cobra nation has been very enjoyable and progressive. larry writes comics similar to the way they were written in the day when the monthly issues mattered and not every story-arc was plotted out/ or written with an easy beginning, middle, and conclusion. this continuity is a multi-layered serialized universe that has been known to leave characters ad sub-plots adrift for many years. i loved seeing the crimson twins return because i hadn't seen them since the 116-118 "arc" centered around a destro death hunt. i am still very curious as to tyrone's brother's plans/progress/past.
