After applying for Micronauts related character trademarks for the first time in Hasbro history just last month (previously belonging to MIC Holdings), Hasbro has now renewed their G. I. Joe trademark under the category of Entertainment Services at the United States Patent & Trademark Office.
This may not sound like an exciting news but the timing fits perfectly with their plans for the Hasbro Cinematic Universe.
The trademark status of G. I. Joe under the Entertainment Services category switched to Dead back in June 2014. The renewal has come 2 and a half years later and it’s a welcoming sign.
The category consists “presentation of works of visual art or literature to the public for cultural, entertainment, amusement, recreation or educational purposes”.

Haven't we been through this before.
The character name trademarks expire and need to be refiled from time to time to retain ownership. It doesn't necessarily mean an impending release.
But also, Hasbro IS getting ready for HCU, but this is not new information.

Always wondered about how Jem and Zartan both use "hologram" technology to change their appearance. (Because holography is like magic or something). I bet an inventive writer could make something out of that.

I recently reread the first major arc of the old Marvel Micronauts series. It was flat-out amazeballs. I know these new figures won't be reflective of that series, and may not even be reflective of the new IDW comics, but damn I want these to be cool toys.
