I picked up a few of these Skystrikers from various sources and all in good to immaculate condition. I wanted one when I was kid but was not in an area where one could be bought as I lived abroad on a 45 square mile area of U.S. Sovereign Terrritory over 100 miles SE of Florida. After looking at one, I wanted to bring closer to F-14 specs as much as possible. The work is still in progress. I'm looking at changing the Engine nozzles from the P & W to The General Electric version.

Well so far I'm loving it the bomb display looks great can't wait to see one ready
I can't wait to see your custom Joe plane finished. Are you going to put repro Skytriker stickers on it?
I really like the real world F-14 Tomcat payload arrangement. What scale are the AIM-p and AIM-7? 1/32? I have thought of usiing 1/32 scale ordnance for my aircraft as well.

Very Nice. Can't wait to see it finished
Very nice. Are you going to replace the Aim-54's with GBUs or standard bombs? What are you going to use for the TARPS Pod?
Thanks for everyones input and questions...
The Scale of the plane based on some snooping around is 1/32nd. I currently collect 1/18 scale aircraft but this is definitely THE exception to the rule since no mass produced F-14 exists in this scale. There is one company that has built one, they are special order and they probably cost as much as Lexus.
I took down the 1/32 scale F-4 and used that as the basis for building the missiles. I used a detailed photobook on the F-14 for reference material.
Weapons: I wanted to build the radar and the M-61 gatling gun with removal panels to add a lil fun in the mix but it would prevent action figures from fitting in the seats - so I opted out.
I will be building two GBU-10 Laser Guided bombs for the two front racks (Currently Occcupied by the two front Phoenix Missiles) I'm thinking of making a set of GBU-12s. I have parts for a LANTIRN laser targeting pod which will attach to the starboard pylon where the Sparrow currently sits - I cannot imagine this plane without it's tailhook so one is being built.
I have removed the hideious looking cannon and cleaned that area out. I am moving it to the correct position on the lower left side.
Lastly.. as for decals and markings I will be using a famous Navy Squadron's markings. I wanted to go either low viz vs high viz and it was a very difficult decision. BTW... hint about the markings: Ensign Jack Ernie. (The one who inspired the logo for this squadron) I'm hoping by this weekend to get paint thrown down...
Ah, the Jolly Rogers. Excellent. Should make for a nice deco...looking forward to finished pics.
Wow so far you are doing an amazing job. I can not wait to see this when it is complete.
Thanks again. I cannot wait either. I usually envision everything from start to finish within a span of a few minutes and still wanting to see this thing done. I really looked forward to building the gatling gun and a few internals, BUT it would take up a LOT of space... This is a pic of a 1/18 scale Gatling gun I built for one of my helicopters: (Click for better view)

Well you can only do so much, however ambitious one might get!
