I had to have this as soon as I saw the bad boy up on Target's Website. Price tag 54.99 + tax + shipping less $5.00 online Target.com coupon = $62.35.
To start with, the price was pretty hefty but that was expected given the inflation with most ROC stuff and I bit on it in the event it stays as an online Target Exclusive (website currently indicates online only not in stores so we will see how that plays out).
I will break this down since there are several components of this really cool vehicle. Those that have had one will not find much new here except the stickers, color, logos and Rampage (aka Heavy Metal).
The main body of this APC is larger than most vehicles I have purchased since the 25th line came out. It is also pretty wide (approx. 2 cobra gunships in width) and it could easily blow over a HISS tank. It is a hefty toy and would handle a lot of wear and tear well. Lots of places to put figures, 2 up front in gunner and driver seats, 2 figures can stand on pegs behind each of the main armored doors on the left and right, and a rear gunner under the rear armored hatch. The rear hatch opens in 2 places the main hatch and a larger latched roof under it to again easier access to the seat in that area. There is also a second rear hatch that gives access to 3 more internal seats opposite the rear gunner hatches. The main body is bristling with weaponry from 2 large 3 rack missile pods, 1 large spring loaded Gatling gun on the rear, front mounted 2 barrel machinegun for gunners seat, and a twin barreled heavy machine gun with hand controls on the rear. These weapons are interchangeable in most of the stand offs all over the vehicle (6 on the main body) and they can also be placed on the helo/jet vehicle. The docking mid section for the helo/jet lowers when the helo is pressed down onto it and a small button on the rear of the vehicle allows for it to pop up into launch position. Nice armor plating, detailed wheels, detailed lights, and intimidating looks make this APC a must have for your battlefield.
The helo/jet vehicle is also very nice. It is roughly the same size as the ROC Cobra gunship. There is a second seat right behind the front seat. The wings fold up when it is docked back on the main APC. It has 4 connection points to connect various weapons systems from the main APC if you choose which is pretty cool. I think it really looks somewhat similar to Switchblade, the helicopter/jet Myles Mayhem fly in M.A.S.K.
The vehicle has a simple strait forward sticker sheet with the standard ROC stickers and logos. At first I did not think it had any till I found them stuck inside the main part of the box. I had not applied them to the vehicle as of taking the pics as I just found them in the box afterwards :(
Rampage is a terrific figure (albeit an easy kit bash of existing parts). If you don't feel like making him yourself then here he is. I was always a huge fan of this figure and am glad to have him but wish he had his Mauler. He should have been in the standard ROC camo scheme and his namesake would fit better (since he looks way to much like an ARAH Heavy Metal). He has a vest from Wild Bill, helmet from (nicely detailed like the vintage Heavy Metal) with a mic attached of course yayay no more lost mics haha, Hawk's belt/holster, a sparkly tinted Berretta pistol, and 2 ammo clips for his Beachhead sub machinegun.
The box art is really cool to if you’re into keeping boxes. I have provided some shots of the back and front and side. My box was not treated well and there is a large crease down the left side of it so the picture may not look that great as a result.
It has 7 neon missiles, 1 for the rear Gatling gun which is spring activated but is not overtly so and does not detract from the weapon as much as the spring fired weapons with the single carded figures. The other 6 are for the 2 missile pods. These are not spring loaded and are more a "flick with your finger" firing action. The vehicle looks fine without them in place or if you’re so inclined black or gun metal silver/grey will fix them up great.
Overall I would give it an 8 out of 10 due to price, color scheme and Neon colored missiles (I hoped we were passed that in the 90s) and no ROC figure (which is OK since we did get a Heavy Metal!) It was a great addition to my collection as I am sure it will be to any of you who never got one of these vehicles from the past. I really like it am glad I ordered one.
Enjoy!

See, now that's how you do a decent kitbash, Hasbro.
I'm not being facetious, it's a great effort at a classic figure. The parts work really well, even the Mutt head. The worst part are the legs, I'll have to swap those out if I get him, but they're hardly worth griping about. The rest is really smart parts usage. I'll just need to do a dirt-wash on his face and maybe switch the legs, and I'd be really happy with him.
I don't want the vehicle one bit, and won't buy it just to get the figure, so I'll have to see if I can get him online at some point for less than $20.

As much as I want that Heavy Metal I can't justify $55 for a vehicle that was $15 at TRU just a couple of years ago.

$55 was easier to stomach than $99 for Hawk which I want but have absoltuley no need of the Pitt :( But I think there will be enough parts with the carded Hawk coming and various other bodies to build one less than $20 without having to paint I hope.
Thinking Indiana Jones Coat+ Arms, either Shipwrecks reactive armor body + legs and carded ROC Hawks head, or Using the non-coat body of hawk with the indiana jones jackets and sleeeves (will brown vs. black but Hawks orignal coat was brown anyway).
But in either figures case that is massive expense for either of these 2 cool figures :(

That blue doesn't look as bad in these pics as it did in the original promo pic.
Thanks for the review!
