Troynos
Resolute Cobra Trooper- Just a great update to the old trooper. Very modern looking.
Runners up: TRU Firefly, PIT Commando, Shockblast, Elite-Viper
Shogi
25th GI Joe 5 pack #2 (Flint, Shippy, etc...)- Definitive 25th/ME versions of classic figures with new mods or in some cases many newly sculpted parts.
Runners up: SDCC Destro, WM EX Outpost Defender, ROC Sky Sweeper, Target EX Serpent Armor
vadersquest
Alley Viper- To me this figure was pure gold. As someone who got sucked back into vintage, I never had this one before so I was thrilled with the modern release. The sculpt was excellent as so was the gear. Hasbro payed perfect homage to a vintage figure that I now own 2 of (and the reason why I bought the vintage figure). He is a good troop builder and I dig the color spectrum of the figure. I know many hate this camo pattern but I like it a lot.
Runners up: Pit Commando, Recondo, Outpost Defender, Reso Gung Ho
Shin Densetsu
Tiger Rat- I never had this thing as a child. I wanted it back in 1987 but was told no, and when the opportunity came to get the reissue, a plane using the retooled Rattler mold and COMPATIBLE with 25th style figures, I eagerly jumped at the chance to buy it! A very durable mold, it also features gloss stickers printed on clear film. These stickers stick MUCH better than the stickers on the 2008 Rattler/Conquest. For $25, this exclusive plane is a bargain compared to most of the items in the Rise of Cobra line. It is fun to play with, and comes with a vast array of weaponry. Due to the significant retooling and change in materials compared to the vintage version, this toy seems like it will stand the test of time compared to it's vintage predecessor. It was one of the most highly anticipated items announced for 2009 in 2008, and it was definitely worth the wait.
Runners up: Ghost HAWK, PIT Commando, G.I. Joe Resolute Training Storm Shadow VS Tunnel Rat Comic Pack, Rescue Mission Snake Eyes
Deefuzz
Python Patrol Conquest X-30- I have always had a soft spot in my heart for the Python Patrol. When I was a child I had most of the Python Patrol figures but only a couple of vehicles, and the Conquest was one I always wanted. I picked it up as soon as I saw it and I was not disappointed. The fact that it came with a Python Patrol Viper just made it even sweeter. I would have loved to see even more Python Patrol stuff make it to the store shelves, but this piece helped make a young boy's Cobra dreams finally come true years later...so it has to take my top pick of the year.
Runners Up: Defense of Cobra Island set, JoeCon Crimson Strike Team set, Sideshow Crimson Cobra Commander, 25th Anniversary Tiger Rat
Derek2783
Alley Viper– What a fantastic figure. Great accessories, great sculpt, and a perfect tribute to the original, in all it’s ARAH bright-colored glory
Runners up: City Strike Snake-Eyes, Ghost Hawk, SDCC Destro, Paris Pursuit Snake-Eyes
Steel Brigade
Helix- My personal favorite of the ROC line, Helix is a step in the right direction for Joe as she breaks a lot of the stereotypes of what can be a great GI Joe figure. She's a heroic female w/ an original design aesthetic outside of Hasbro's Joe development team, & has a great range of versatility/movement & is one of the best sculpted female figures I have seen offered in this size.
Runners up: 09 5-pack Baroness, Outpost Defender, The Doctor (Rex), Desert Ambush Duke
SNAKE EYES
Snake Eyes V2 from the Joe 5 pac- In my opinion this is the most accurate version we got during the 25th line. The HoH version is good, but this version is the best. My biggest pet peeve with all the other V2 Snake Eyes is the collar and this one eliminates that.
Runners up: Hall of Heroes Storm Shadow, Hall of Heroes Flint, Outback (Flak) and Strato Viper (CLAW), The Stinger
MTN
Pit Commando- I've always wanted a figure that is basically plain that comes with a lot of gear to give him. A lot of my first customs were attempts at this. Most of the time when I pass a pit commando in the store I buy it. I love the figure. Plenty of accessories and great articulation.
Runners up: City Strike Snake Eyes, Helix, Desert Ambush Duke, TRU Firefly
HonestAbeJoeHooah
Assault on Cobra Island 7 pack (stand outs for me Wetsuit, Recondo, and Ripcord/altitude)
A whole lot of good times and Childhood memories brought back with this set, and enough nostalgia (after it came out) to carry me through the remainder of 2009! With some classic Characters coming back, and plus the updated articulation how could I not like this 7 pack!?
Outback (night force)
Recondo - To me a great update on a great figure. I like the head sculpt pretty well, and his gear just set it off for me.
Zap
Chuckles
Hit & Run
Wetsuit - An awesome update to the original figure imo, and keeping with the classics colors won me over here.
Altitude (classic Ripcord) - Ripcord and Airborne will always be two of my favorite Joes ever! One of my Grandpas who passed away not long ago was in the 82nd Airborne, and this figure holds a dear place for me personally. It is a great update to the original release, and with the articulation and gear...for me it gets no better!
Runners up: Flint from the Joe 5-pack #2, Water Moccasin (Sting Raider) with Copperhead, Defense of Cobra Island BAT (battle damaged), Python Patrol Conquest with Python Viper
ceraurus
5-pack Snake Eyes - I love this figure. There may be ones that appeal to me more as display figures, but overall playability (cool look and great articulation) would have made this my favorite as a kid.
Runners-up: Alley-Viper, Elite Viper, Helix, Resolute Firefly, Resolute Trooper, 5-pack Baroness, Resolute Duke
samantha
Cobra Island, Cobra 7 pack. This pack pulled together many of the figures that I personally was looking for plus it made for a great troop builder pack.
Runners up: Snake Armor, Crimson Neo Viper, Pitt Commando, Cobra Steel Crusher
Sunbow_Joe84
City Strike Snake Eyes, followed by Resolute Duke, Walmart Two Pack Gung Ho, Walmart exclusive Roadblock with Outpost Defender and Resolute Cobra Commander.
Happy New Year everyone and I hope this year is safe, and full of great stuff to look forward to! YO JOE! COBRA!!!!!!!!
my most favourite figure of the year is ROC kamakura and my most favourite vehicle is the ROC R.H.I.N.O.
Awesome guys! Thanx for sharing!
I'm wondering what is up with Kamakura and the Nano-Viper. I have yet to see either of them, even just 1 of them, in the wild. Seen every figure from the wave and the one after except for those two.
And enough of the other figures to know that a couple of cases were opened.
My favorite figures for 09 were; Helix, Pit Commando and the reactive armor figures from RoC including the Desert Assualt Ripcord.
Thanks for sharing, guys! My favorite 2009 toy was the Rockslide. Runners up were Assault on Cobra Island Joe Pack and the Steel Crusher.
Resolute Cobra Trooper, Crimson Neo Viper, Desert Viper, CS SE, Beachhead (comic pack), TRU Firefly, Helix, Steel Crusher... all awesome.
R.H.I.N.O, Stinger, Arctic Hiss, Steel Crusher and CS SE.
Im gonna go with TRU Firefly because he comes with so much awesome crap and he looks so mean, I did a few mods(glued stuff down est) and now he is the coolest thing I own IMHO.
Resolute Snake Eyes and Helix are close runner ups, I hope they are a taste of what more is to come.
