Since its rebranding as “Syfy“, the channel has taken great pains to re-brand the itself. That re-branding continues with a series of new shows announced by Syfy. While they have their normal slate of scripted and unscripted shows (including a possible DC Comics Booster Gold series), GIJOE fans will want to take a look at the descriptions for two shows in particular.
Toy Traveler: Shane Turgeon, the Indiana Jones of toy collectors, travels to remote corners of the world to find the rarest and most valuable toys and collectibles. Whether it’s in an old toy warehouse in a remote Guatemalan town or a small swap meet in the Ukraine, Shane will go to all lengths to find the most unique and collectible toys.Collection Intervention: Collection Intervention follows Elyse Luray, a sharp and to-the-point collectibles expert as she helps couples who are divided over what to do with an overwhelming collection of memorabilia. Whether it’s a husband’s collection of mint-condition G.I. JOE action figures worth thousands of dollars or a girlfriend’s treasure trove of Star Wars movie posters, Elyse helps couples decide what’s worth keeping and what they can sell. For each couple, their new cash windfall will make their dream come true, whether it’s an engagement ring, a down payment for a home, or the honeymoon they never had.
Dread Central has a list of the other Syfy show for those that want to see what else the network is offering.

Well that's a no-brainer! You keep the husband's collection of mint-condition G.I. JOE action figures worth thousands of dollars and sell the wife and kids. By the way, what are kids going for on the black market these days?

Note to self: Watch Collection Intervention alone.
I do not want to give the girlfriend the idea that there are some circumstances in which it is okay to sell the collection. Especially for an engagement ring!!

Collection Intervention is the sort of crap that stereotypes our hobby. Elyse Luray can bugger off.
That toy hunter show that is already on is rubbish as well. It's just glorified scalpers.
How about they do a show that shows the positives of our hobby and the community around it? Oh wait, not good for ratings or controversy.

The minute a "fringe" subsection of the population gets its own reality show, is the time when that "fringe" becomes "mainstream." At that point, I don't know if I can continue "collecting" as a lifestyle. I don't like it when people pay attention to what I am doing, or, even worse, attempt to engage me about it.

They need to just go back to SciFi and put the little saturn logo back and re-runs of vintage battlestar galacitca and buck rogers on! And V and all of the other 70s 80s scifi flicks and shows! And add GI JOE in there just for kicks

I am starting to not like these shows....
