Recently, Robert Atkins updated his blog with a new post showing a new project he has been working on with Ted Jacobson. The new concept art depicts a forward swept wing(FSW) fighter. Now at 1st glance you might think it’s not GI Joe-related. However, considering that Atkins is a big Skystriker fan(confirmed while interviewing him in 2008)….and, well…look, at that:
Notice the Skystriker logo on the vertical stabilizers? The concepts prior to the final design range from F-14 Tomcat/Skystriker XP-14F influence to F-15 Eagle, SU-47 Berkut and/or Hunt For The Decepticons Terradive to possible Ace Combat Falken/Morgan influences. Maybe even Yukikaze. Click on the headline to check out Atkin’s concept fighter.
More info to come at JoeCon 2013 next month and Mindbender’s Clinic(May 18th at the Fairfield Marriot in Rapid City South Dakota)!

Thought this might be of interest--Robert Atkins posted a new piece of concept art on his blog for an upcoming project. While he doesn't come right out and say it, the tail fins appear to be a strong indicator:

Robotech/Macross much?

Interesting to see no sidestick(not criticism just an observation).

More Conquest than Sky Striker ...

If Hasbro produced this vehicle, I think it would be a no-brainer for them to repaint it as Cyclonus for a SDCC Crossover exclusive.
Shin Densetsu says
Looking at the final design more, it'd be stronger without the center frame on the canopy.

The Sky Striker needs to be updated! -Either that or we get a new Gi Joe plane altogether! Oh, Hasbro if this plane does comes to fruition; make it a two seater or make sure there is an alternate two seat version too! When you re-released the 30th Sky Striker; it didn't have the two seater capability of the vintage Sky Striker that the majority of us are familiar with! Also make sure the toy looks like what we see in the pictures; don't dumb it down being cheap and all! The cockpit can be all one color as far as I'm concerned; just make sure the detail is there with the seat, the control board, handle and etc. (..I can dress it up with paint)! Make sure the missiles don't fall off when you barely pick the plane up also (..this was very annoying with the 30th Sky Striker)! I hope this concept Gi Joe plane makes it to the production line for the post Gi Joe:Retaliation toyline! Hasbro, make sure that you make this plane right (..go a step above like you are doing with the upcoming Retaliation "Ultimate" figures); and people will buy them up (..including me) whether they are Gi Joe fans & collectors or not (..if this plane is cool enough people will buy it)!
