Chuckles is the only man alive to have successfully infiltrated COBRA… and he’s M.I.A. Has he been killed? Defected? Gone rogue to fight a one-man war against the enemy? None of these alternatives are acceptable to General Hawk. He wants Chuckles back with G.I. JOE, so he’s sending a new Joe to retrieve him. But what she finds may be worse than anyone could have imagined!
Alright! We gave you one week to read the first 4 issues of G.I. Joe: Cobra and Special #1. It’s time to post up spoilers and move onto G.I. Joe: Cobra II. If you still have not gotten a chance to catch up on your IDW G.I. Joe: Cobra, this is a good time to say away from the jump.
See you on the other side!
Chuckles having gone so deep undercover that his morality has not merely been compromised; it has been obliterated. And quite deliberately, it turns out. Having killed Jinx (the only woman he has ever loved) to keep his cover intact, Chuckles plots to blow up a secret Cobra base and Tomax & Xamot along with it.
Busting his way into a meeting room hoping to find the “Commander”, Chuckles finds out that he has been a pawn in Tomax & Xamot’s ongoing mind game; knowing he was a G.I. Joe for some time. After blowing up the base and a brief confrontation that leaves Xamot scared for life, and the relationship with his brother Tomax forever torn apart, Chuckles is left shattered knowing that all his efforts were for nothing, as he watches the Twins escape!
We are going to give everybody one week to read the next 4 issues of G.I. Joe: Cobra II before we start posting “special spoilers” and moving on to our next selection on the front page. For those of you who are reading this story for the first time, spoilers will be allowed in the thread attached to this post, so it’s best to stop by after reading the comics. Please join us after the jump and take part in our poll as well as joining in on the discussion of IDW’s G.I. Joe: Cobra II Series!

Okay, I finished Joe/Cobra Vol 1. And I'm watching Daredevil.
I wonder if there is a real-life "Semyon" in the Gages' pasts.
The Tomax/Xamot special is very well-done. I remember seeing articles about it when it came out, and it was nice to finally read.
I have internalized a lot of this world/interpretation even without having read it, that shows how seminal this volume is. I'm surprised there hasn't been a CG figure from this design, but it's probably because the classic design is so excellent and preferred.
I don't love everything in this book, but it's definitely top-quality. Good for the Gages, and I hope they build on their current success with Daredevil.
Destro, if you're leading that this series would make a good film (G.I. Joe 3 - with the Twins), I can definitely see it. At least there is a solid foundation for it. It would be a little thin for me if translated directly, though. Just not enough Joe, not enough Cobra, overall. Expansive, but missing density.

What I enjoyed the most about Cobra was that we really got to see the inside of the organization and even the office work side. But it was still all through the eyes of a Joe. A really great mix.
Fuso's art is best when Chuckles is fighting and getting hurt as he fights. Almost of those scenes are my favorite artwork sections, otherwise his style is quite the perfect fit, but its good enough to match the awesome storytelling.
And most certainly when Christos Gage was getting ready to be hired for Daredevil. Now doubt someone at Disney read GI Joe Cobra and where as blown away by it as we were.

I made it through the Cobra Civil War and Cobra Command series. I am up to the Oktober Guard TPB.
Even though I was careful to not overlap and get the same TPBs, I still screwed up and got doubles. It is hard to separate, but Deep Terror TPB is already compiled in one of the larger collections: Cobra Command maybe. EDIT: I'm wrong about that. I'm just confused about the order, going back to check it out.

I did enjoy it. The Cobra series is, by far, my favorite Joe series fro IDW...
