2016 G.I.Joe Collectors Convention Brochure Now Available

The G.I.Joe Collectors Club has posted the brochure for the 2016 G.I.Joe Convention in Loveland, Colorado.

Of note to collectors are the details behind this year’s Convention exclusive set that’s sure to please many, as we’ve heard this particular set mentioned on the boards quite often. For 2016, fans & collectors alike will have the opportunity to add SKY PATROL vs THE COBRA A.D.D.E.R.S. to their Modern Era collections! Here’s the backstory on the set from the Club:

As in past years, there are two different outstanding GIJoeCon sets that every G.I. Joe collector will want to add to their collection. Once again, the club has worked very hard to bring you only the highest quality and most innovative sets possible!

COBRA has installed an advanced radar station on one of the “fourteener’s”, mountains that rise more than 14,000 feet above sea level in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. When G.I. JOE tests their new stealth aircraft at one of the local Air Force bases, they find themselves on a search and rescue mission for the ultimate prize.

The COBRA A.D.D.E.R.S. (Aerial Deployment Daredevil Elite Recon Squadron) are a covert reconnaissance and warfare unit of the COBRA Air Force. These tactical assault glider pilots swoop down on their prey and steal everything they can carry back to their base. They are airborne criminals determined to rule the skies by any means necessary!

The G.I. JOE SKY PATROL are an elite aerial assault team. They use advanced stealth technology to provide offensive and defensive counter air operations. These airborne troopers conduct rapid, infiltration, ex-filtration or reconnaissance missions using specialized deployment systems and tactics. Their goal is to clear the skies by disrupting or neutralizing all enemy forces in their
path.

Both the COBRA and G.I. JOE squadron leaders know that command of the sky is crucial in determining the outcome of any
battle. Which team will be victorious and gain air superiority? The 2016 3 3/4” convention set contains highly requested teams available for the first time in the modern era 25A action figure style. This special edition set includes:

SKY PATROL (six figures): DROP ZONE, SKYDIVE, CLIFF “AIRWAVE” MEWETT, STATIC LINE, ROBERT “AIRBORNE” SIX, JOHN-EDWARD “ALTITUDE” JONES.

COBRA A.D.D.E.R.S. (nine figures): SKY CREEPER, COBRA FLYING SCORPION, AIR DEVIL x 3, COBRA BLACK VULTURE, COBRA NIGHT VULTURE x 3.

Each of these great teams comes with their classic weapons, accessories, figure stands and file cards in this exciting fifteen figure boxed set. Also, make sure you are there for package pick-up on Thursday night so that you won’t miss this year’s souvenirs! The 12″ Offering this year is The Adventures Of G.I. Joe Underwater Diver featuring The Eight Ropes of Danger! This set commemorates the very short run of the 1969 “Adventures Of” series and features a 12” G.I. Joe Aquanaut in a reproduction of a “red-top” long box along with his “pork pie” cap and pants, sweater, dog tag, Label revolver, brown shoulder holster, and black boots. He also comes with a reproduction Eight Ropes of Danger diving accessory set and a new Dive into Darkness stealth version of the same diving accessory set.* All of these items will be packaged together in a display box featuring art from the “Adventures Of” era.
