G.I.Joe 50th Anniversary Silent Strike Now On Sale At TRU

Posted on May 5, 2016 at 10:11 am by C.I.A.D. under G.I. Joe 50th Anniversary

Thanks to HissTank.com forum member Krevix for pointing out that the G.I.Joe 50th Anniversary Silent Strike Set has finally been reduced in price on Toys’R’Us from $64.99 to $49.99. Whether or not this pricing is also reflected in Brick & Mortar stores remains to be confirmed.

For those of you that have been holding out, now would be a great time to add this set that includes a very cool homage to Mr. Gary Head, aka Goggles, aka Gyre-Viper to your collection.

Planning on adding your first, or perhaps another Silent Strike set to your collection? Sound off after the break.

Notice the Silent Strike set price was lowered to 49.99 at TRU and TRU online.

I bought two of the sky strikers (unassembled with sticker sheets) from this set from a seller on Ebay who had it listed for $30 O.B.O. plus $12 shipping. I bought one for $25 and then he agreed to sell me another one for $20 with combined shipping for $12. Came out to $28.50 a piece. No Ace though.

I have extra Aces if you are interested.... of course they put this on sell 1 week after I bought a second one. I did get mine for $54 tax and all due to a 20% off coupon... but still if I had waited a week I could have started at 50 bones THEN took 20 points off.

If that was the 20% friends and family coupon I think it only lasted 4 days.

It were, thanks for the heads up. Do you guys think they would do a price correction? I have been nit picking at doing the decals slowly and perfectly since this weekend so I don't want to return it and buy another. But quick napkin math shows I could have saved about 12 bucks more with this.

Oh and im getting the itch.... If this drops ANY more I will ikely buy two more and mix themes on the decals... like Silver details and dark grey trailing edges, or there are actually a few options I was considering. Those multiple theme decal sheets really offer a lot of fleet building options. I kinda don't want these to outnumber my classic grey ( 30th) Sky strikers but throwing in orange hiss' and driver sort of makes it irresistible.

I once tried to get TRU to match Meijer's price on their M1A2 Abrams tank (I bought two at TRU for $45 each, then found them $5/each cheaper at Meijer a couple of days later) and they refused because Meijer is apparently not on their list of stores they will match. That has to be a good sign for Meijer shoppers, and kind of embarrassing for TRU. Anyway, I debated with them for about ten minutes and they finally relented when I explained to them that all that was going to happen if they didn't adjust the price was that I would go to Meijer (conveniently, the next parking lot over), buy two of their tanks, then come right back to TRU and do a full return. They could either be out $10 on a price match, or be out the whole $90 on a return. After that, they grudgingly did an adjustment. But why oh why did it have to go that far over an 11% price adjustment? Ugh!

So, ever since then if I ever need a price change at TRU I just re-buy the item then return it on the old receipt. There is nothing technically or ethically wrong with it, and in my experience it's usually still faster to wait through the checkout line and then go over to customer service and do a simple return than it is to just do a price match or adjustment request. Sad but true.

So if you still have the old receipt just buy another then return what you just bought on the old receipt without even leaving the building.

EDIT: Wait, I just realized you mentioned having used a coupon that is no longer available. Scratch the above, you'll just have to roll the dice on finding a caring, intelligent person at the TRU service desk.

If it's within the time limit, they'd always price correct it to the current $49.99 if you paid more than that after all your discounts. Getting them to price correct it to that AND then also re-apply the coupon you used is probably going to be much harder to do unless the cashier is really into you.

TRU asks for a driver's license for receipts now, at least around here, and their system will ban you from doing returns for 2-3 months if you "return too much," which is an undefined quantity. So you're safer getting a price adjustment right on the receipt, where they do a partial refund, not a full return, which doesn't require a license.

Never had any issues with returns there with a store receipt. An online receipt is a whole different story.

I bought three rock rampages online before the price drop and used shop-runner shipping. I went in for a price adjustment which they couldn't process and suggested a return/repurchase. The online receipt would only give me the value I paid without tax! Since the return/repurchase wasn't working they suggested I do a no receipt return. I had no objection since I never return without receipt. I provided my ID but then after they process the transaction I get an extra receipt stating "future non-receipt returns may be declined."

I have been waiting for a price drop on this set for months. I bought one set, no room for more than that in my place right now. Freaking loved the skystriker when I was a kid and was hoping to find a sweet set with it like this one. Glad TRU finally dropped it.
