Word coming from Paramount states that G.I. Joe: Snake Eyes movie release date has been pushed back from its original March 27th, 2020 to an unknown date.
Taking the spot vacated by the movie is the sequel to A Quiet Place, which will release on March 20th, 2020… two months ahead of its original release date.
Sonic The Hedgehog live action movie is also pushed back by several months in order to rework its CGI. Unlike Snake Eyes, Sonic has a release date next year on Valentine’s Day.
As fans, we anticipated this situation when director Robert Schwentke took off to work on his new movie; Seneca: On The Creation Of Earthquakes.
Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura confirmed the matter further, by announcing a pushed back filming schedule.
However, G.I. Joe: Snake Eyes was teased during CinemaCon 2019 for an undisclosed release date in 2020.
No other G.I. Joe movie is in development.

When was the 3rd GI Joe Movie first promised to come out? 2016? I can't remember.

I'm not seriously shocked for a few reasons.
1) Paramont fast tracked the A Quiet Place Sequel.
2) Paramont is moving back Sonic to fix the animation.
3) Frankly they don't have anything solid for Snake Eyes. Sure they know they have a wildly popular character, from what was once a wildly popular franchise that potentially could not only make cash, but resurrect G.I. Joe as a VIABLE property for future films and toys, and anything else.
But...that's about ALL they have. I really don't think they have thought one with what to do and how to proceed with it.
Their entire plan is similar to the South Park Under Pants Gnomes...
1) We have Snake Eyes
2)
3) Make money.
