Speaking to the press and investors during their 2020 1st Quarter Conference Call, ViacomCBS CEO Robert Bakish stated that Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins movie concluded its principal photography prior to the COVID-19 Pandemic and is being worked on remotely in post-production.
It was indeed nice to hear that the work is not stalled and is happening as we speak.
Regarding the release dates for movies, Mr. Bakish stated that even though release dates are set for many Paramount movies for the year, they’ll only be released when they can be released; due to the current world situation. Therefore, releases will be pushed back or brought forward depending on the situation. He added:
“With respect to movies, yes, we moved them later. We thought that was the right thing to do to preserve asset value. We obviously look at the market and look at what it will be at a point in time, and we’ll make a decision if there’s sufficient critical mass of screens if you will, theaters to warrant opening a film.”

Totally understandable that release dates can change. Not only do we want a really good film but we want one that is profitable and popular enough to introduce new fans into the really cool world of GI Joe and Cobra.

At this point, I'm doubtful Snake Eyes' date will change. That is, of course, barring a major resurface of Coronavirus in the fall significant enough to force another lockdown situation for theaters.
The biggest issue I'm seeing is if Snake Eyes gets buried under more high profile films. But then again, there could be an unmet desire for feature films by this fall, which could elevate spectacle films like Snake eyes.

I don’t even care anymore.
It comes out when it comes out.
