The Cobra Island mission may still be active for many of us, but today we start our next – G.I. Joe Classified Wave 2! These guys starting hitting big box retailers recently, filling in the Wave 1 pegs that cleared pretty quick. The wave consists of Gung Ho, Cobra Commander and a Red Ninja. The case break down is – 2 Gung Ho, 3 Cobra Commander, 1 Red Ninja. Why? To raise blood pressure I suppose.
We’ve run Gung Ho through the motions so read on to check out over 35 HD shots and some quick thoughts. We’ve also run the rest of wave 2 so check back tomorrow for the next gallery!

Overall Thoughts
Works for me. I’ve read some folks having issue with his size, specific details, but for me he’s solid. Gung Ho was always a little out there design wise with the lack of shirt and brighter color camo, but they stayed true to the shirtless aspect and updated the rest. His tat, I’m indifferent but I can see folks wanting that OG Marine tat. Sculpt wise he uses a lot of Roadblock’s base figure – the waist down looks the same. The arm guard is the same as Roadblock V2. Head is a sharp sculpt with the handlebar mustache and I dig the mohawk. Hey, everyone tries out new cuts and facial hair over the years, this is where he’s at right now. Backpack is cool but the guns tend to pop out easy. Bottom line, great overall fig and a welcome addition to the Joe ranks, filling out the core cast.

I'm overall happy with the figure. Expecting him to be like the 50th Anniversary figure would be a stretch. Still, I wish they had made him bald, but it's an easy enough thing to customize. Some of us can't change hairstyles cause it all fell out. LOL

What do people think is the in-universe explanation for the pupil-less eyes? Are they robots (like Shredder's Foot Soldiers)? Blind?
I wonder what the out-of-universe explanation is too.
I like the secondaries on the red ninjas, don't really like the coloring (should be bright red) and hate the head. I suppose it is a nod to the nightcreepers, but I feel they are blah too.
Out-of-universe probably just a design decision. If you'd put some pupils into their eyes they look less menacing (at least to me).
Hopefully we get a tight hood version later, Retaliation style.

I'm going to be a bit weird and say that I think I would have liked the red ninja if he was some sort of character like a red ninja leader. As a trooper the figure just doesn't work for me. When they announced the figure I had my hopes up for a simpler design that could also be used as a Hand ninja.
Looks like I'm going to have to hold out for either Marvel Legends doing Hand ninjas at some point or that Hasbro will repaint a Storm Shadow figure because Hasbro does love those repaints.
