Actors Henry Golding (Snake Eyes) and Andrew Koji (Storm Shadow) spoke to Hollywood Outbreak and Inverse respectively, regarding the upcoming movie Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins.
Mr. Golding emphasized on the fact that the new movie is a reboot of the Live Action Movie series:
“It’s unlike anything that people will have seen. We are really starting a new timeline, a new franchise with the G.I. Joe universe. To kick it off with a distinct and stylized film, I think it really sets the precedence for follow-up movies. And so, it’s amazing to be able to tread in unexplored territory and be able to bring our own style, Robert’s ideas, and his love for Japanese cinema to the international audience.”
Andrew Koji explained the differences between his portrayal of Storm Shadow with the prior iteration by Byung-hun Lee:
“I didn’t vibe with the first films. I liked the actors. But I didn’t vibe. I remember when I saw G.I. Joe like ten years ago. I saw Storm Shadow and I thought, really? Is that our place, Asians in western screens? We take our tops off and say exposition? I don’t want that. With this, we tried to make a real, grounded [story]. We obey the laws of G.I. Joe. But I hope this is the most interesting, layered Storm Shadow we’ve seen. I want younger Asian actors to go, ‘Yeah, there’s a place for us.”

Hope the cast and crew remember all these interviews they are gonna have to repeat next year when the movie is officially out.

I'm not going to lie, I haven't exactly been following this movie's development super closely. So everything I say is based solely on the quoted interview.

I really hope Snake eyes isn’t completely buried by all the giant blockbusters that are coming out next year
Chucez says
When I read stylized, I think "The 300”. I hope this isn't the case
AxonRey says
I’m hopefully, but I’m also operating under the idea that this isn’t a GI Joe movie, it’s a Snake Eyes movie. I think a lot of us are overlooking that.

I interpreted those interviews very differently. I thought their point was that this is the beginning of an entirely new G.I. Joe* universe. Unconnected to any earlier films, and not confined inside the previously existing continuity. (Which I assumed was why Golding used the word "with", rather than "within".)
* New start for everyone, not just Snake Eyes.

I’m getting flashbacks when the Fantastic Four crew of 2015 was shitting all over the earlier ones and look what happened there, the earlier ones are masterpieces compared to Trank’s 2015 F4 film! Not saying this will be the same but always leaves a bad taste when you read articles where the new crew is bad mouthing earlier movies to male them look better to everyone.
