While looking through The United States Copyright Office website, we stumbled upon a curious G.I. Joe entry right next to the Snake Eyes movie.
The entry is none other than the copyright registration of the long-since rumored Chuckles movie by Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec.
Back in August 2019, Hollywood Reporter reported that the two Mission: Impossible writers are hard at work to bring the next G.I. Joe movie (following Snake Eyes) to life.
Hollywood Reporter never revealed the title of the script, but we now know it as…
G.I. Joe and the hunt for Infinity Mask
It is likely that the title will be revised as G.I. Joe: The hunt for Infinity Mask, but that is if they would keep this title at all. On second thought, there is no guarantee that this script will even be the final story or whether it will be turned into a movie at all. However, news we discovered early this year suggests that the movie is in pre-production under the working title ‘Ever Vigilant’.
Only time will tell. At least, now you know… and knowing is half the battle.

Chuckles? Really? Maybe a special missions movie with beachhead, heavy duty, covergirl shipwreck and barricade would garner a better audience then the silent dude who chucked a missile at a hisstank.
If the plot is like GI JOE: Cobra: The Last Laugh then I'm in.
Hopefully it will feature more characters.

Without more details, ALL of this is subject to change. As is, “Ever Vigilant” is a name that has been bandied about for YEARS attached to different flavors of “GI Joe 3”. I’m more inclined, given the priority given to Snake Eyes, that Chuckles is a separate project using the same writers of Ever Vigilant.
And honestly, a Chuckles movie with more espionage elements would help build the stage for a “proper” Joe vs Cobra film and maybe the Lady Jaye series as well. It would allow some real “build up” of Cobra and lead to a “traditional” Joe team movie having more weight than it might have as just another reboot.
I Think we all know if the numbers for Snake Eyes are bad this will never happen. But i hope Snake eyes is going to do great. And i hope this gets made. I'm a Chuckles fan.
I never read the comic did Chuckles talk? I didn’t like how his character was shown in the animated 87 movie.
So weird! I just picked up a copy of GI Joe: Cobra #1 at 2nd & Charles today with Chuckles on the cover!
I have a personal connection to Chuckles, so I'm biased, but I always felt he was an underrated character. I thought The Last Laugh finally gave him some justice.
I'm hoping somebody's taking a note from the MCU. Explore characters as individuals. Bring them all together for a few mega hits. Rinse and repeat.
Snake Eyes is Fast & Furious with ninjas. Chuckles can be a gritty Mission Impossible. You know, really exploit the genres with Gung-Ho and Roadblock as the odd couple buddy comedy. Flint and LJ romcom opposite Destro and Baroness. And just before they all come together to stop the Weather Dominator, we take a quick man vs. animal detour with Shipwreck. What will that Polly say next?!
In all seriousness, I'm just hoping for new life and longevity in the one universe I really nerd out on. DC and Marvel made it to the next level despite some awkward earlier attempts. Hoping Joe is past that and ready as well. :fingers_crossed:
