Speaking to Swiss entertainment site Kinowetter, actor Henry Golding states that Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins is a reboot of the G.I. Joe Live Action Movie Franchise.
“This is going to be a stepping stone into the entire universe. The two fantastic movies that came before it: we’re definitely wiping the slate clean, starting over again, introducing all of these characters starting with Snake Eyes. So, we see the journey of a man becoming the great operator and the G.I. Joe that we all love; which is Snake Eyes.”
Regarding director Robert Schwentke:
“He’s amazing. He’s a true cinephile and his knowledge and historical understanding of movie-making is beyond anybody that I’ve ever worked with. He’s heavily inspired by the Japanese greats, especially for this movie, including [Akira] Kurosawa, including a lot of these movies that came out way back. So, for us to be able to be out there in Japan, physically, filming on these locations that some of these historical movies have been made on, was just absolutely amazing. It was mind-blowing.”

With this, Bumblebee, and Rise of the Beasts, bring on that HasbroVerse.
Dreadnok Twins says
I hope they film a G.I. Joe: Zartan Origins movie or a Dreadnoks movie...but have both Zandar AND Zarana in it with some meaningful development between them, being twins.
Anyway, bring on the Zartan/Dreadnoks movie and toy tie ins!!

"The two fantastic movies that came before it" Jeez these people live in la la land.
I hope they don't over do this ninja shtick. Eventually they have to make some military thing.
Mud Wasp says
Though just a guess, I suspect the Dreadnoks may play a much larger role in the reboots than most people are anticipating. As with ninjas, a motorcycle gang using "nontraditional" weaponry likely sounds very appealing to Anna Waterhouse & her husband (who would probably prefer to downplay/phase out some of the more militaristic aspects).

Be real, is that something you honestly want to see? And if so, why? Regardless, it's way too soon to even be considering any crossovers.
Mud Wasp says
Maybe (MASK might work). Vanessa Warfield & the Mayhem twins are already awfully Cobra-esque, anyways. And the rest of VENOM, very Dreadnok-y. (Except for that "Waylon Smithers"-ish looking nerd.)

There is no expansion of the franchise, except the Amazon Lady Jaye show that could still be canceled, if Snake Eyes does not perform well.
Hasbro has put all their eggs into the Snake Eyes basket to relaunch the broader GI Joe brand. I hope it works, and more than likely overseas ticket sales will be a big determining factor.
If Snake Eyes works then we will likely see the Joes vs Cobra conflict expand in the sequel based on the many comments Golding has made in interviews.
Ash Talon says
I could see a Zartan and the Dreadnoks movie work. Heist movie. Meets Sons of Anarchy. Meets Fast and Furious. Dreadnoks steal some military/government stuff. Cobra shows up at end to offer them a job.
