Artist Adam Fujita explained his involvement in the Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins merchandise drop for Complexland 2.0.
“I was a big fan of G.I. Joe from the jump,” Adam says. “G.I. Joe came out in the ’60s but I came across it in the mid-’80s as a little kid. It seemed perfect… G.I. Joe is that stereotypical hero, but there was a really great array of diversity within those Joes like Snake Eyes being one of the characters of color.”
“Between my style and all the elements from the movie there is a real boldness to the work,” says Adam. “There’s a strength to it and there’s so much energy. The final designs that we ended up printing on the merch are full of energy and they’re super strong and bold.”

This has to be some sort of record.
Has there ever been a movie when the trailer was released a little over a month before it’s theatrical debut?

This is a really good move for the brand. Complex is pretty much the center of youth culture (especially teen boys) so this will bring a lot of exposure to the brand among young boys, instead of just “grown” men like most Joe stuff has been marketed to in the past.

I am definitely NOT complex enough. I’ll wait until the reality/tangible festival. ;)

Moving the movie release up to July is giving them a small marketing window, though this could be both good or bad. Good for their budget as they are spending alot less money on advertising by only marketing for 2 months now instead of the normal year long campaigns. But also is there gonna be enough hype building time here?

They are gambling that there is pent up demand to see something, anything in theaters.
I think it's probably a better move than waiting until the Fall, which will probably be packed with films.

Its not a bad idea as marketing a movie can be almost close to the cost of the movie itself, so they would be spending far less on SE, making it possibly more profitable in the end
