G.I. Joe Original 13 - Revised 25th Anniversary Sets
Eight years ago I finally had a complete O13 set, in the form of the 25th Anniversary collection. Although I had been into GI Joe since ’82 (toys, comics, cartoon), I never had complete year Joe/Cobra sets or teams of any kind as a kid. The idea of putting together a full O13 excited me when they first announced the Stars & Stripes set in 1997, and then again in 2004 with the comic 3-packs (both of which failed to completely deliver). I was very pleased to finally complete the set in 2009--with modern figure construction, interchangeable webgear, and super-articulation to boot!
With this set, it would be the first time I ever fully posed a set of any action figures and took pictures of them. Below is one of the earliest, with no mods except for a few swaps with heads, bodies and weapons:

Also with this O13 set would be the first time I started tinkering with figure kitbashing and customization—being introduced to the concept at JoeCon 2009 here in Kansas City, and learning more through websites like Hisstank and JoeCustoms. Over the years, I would tinker with these figures and retake this photo, hoping to get it just right in terms of figure builds, paints, pose, and photography. Along the way, I also got a bit obsessive and start putting together other O13 sets (including getting on ebay and finally completing an ’83 style o-ring set).
Below is my “final” updated photo of that first action pose, taken around 2015—when I finally thought the figures were as settled as they were ever going to be.

I had meant to join up with Hisstank and start posting these soon after they were taken, but never got around to it. But this year, when they announced that this line was all about done, I finally got the motivation to get going. More minor tweaks were made since then, and I got a better handle on photgraphing/lighting. And so below are the latest pics of the my 25th classics set, as well as my 25th comics style set and my 25th desert style set:

This was meant to be my first post since joining Hisstank a few months back. But I didn’t want to mess it up--so I went with my Cobras first, to test the process of starting a thread, uploading photos to Photobucket, uploading photos to Flickr, then linking and attaching here. The response to the Cobras was unexpected and exciting, so I focused on those for a while. But really, these Gi Joe O13 sets are my babies—so I hope you enjoy!
Note: more pics of these figures from 2015 are up on my Flickr album https://www.flickr.com/gp/134079475@N08/0BL67x, including pics of single characters X 7 styles for comparison.

Very cool. Great group shots.

Nice work on the figs. I think it's just me that everybody in the bottom photo except for Snake Eyes and Scarlet, look like they work for Marvel's Hydra, but I do see what you're going for when you made them.

Those group shots look great, but the comic versions look like they came off of the Marvel panels from the first 10 issues. Excellent job!

These are all great. The comic versions are dead on. Great work!

I love this! I've always enjoyed different takes on figs (especially og 13) comic , cartoon, etc. Also, I noticed on a few versions of clutch and steeler you made them stubbly like they were often portrayed in the comics. I did that as well on my versions of them.
