Hot Toys has now released a wealth of images and information for their second offering from G.I. Joe Retaliation: Storm Shadow
The figure will feature two headsculpts, one showcasing a detailed sculpt of actor Lee Byung Hun, and one alternate masked head portrait. The release is slated for end of Q2, 2013. Hit the jump for more product specifications and images!

Fresh from the show floor in San Diego we have our first images from the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con coming in! On display in Hasbro-land are several of the figures from the first waves of G.I. Joe Retaliation figures to hit in 2013, along with a few Alpha vehicles.
Also of note on display appears to be a replica of Cobra Commander’s helmet from the movie, and Firefly’s Motorcycle!

The GI Joe Collectors’ Club has posted another first look at an in-package figure from the second movie, G.I. Joe Retaliation. This time the figure is Master of Disguise, Zartan, along with a short fun description:
“Zartan carries out his sinister missions for Cobra Commander. As the master of disguise, Zartan can impersonate anyone, but if you look closely into his eyes, you might see a tell-tale reddish glow that reveals his true identity![/i]”

Thanks to a new Amazon listing, we now have word on an upcoming new book that will be of interest to many G.I. Joe fans. The book is titled G.I. Joe: Field Manual Volume 1 and will be brought to us by Jim Sorenson and Bill Forster. Sorenson and Forster are the same duo who have brought Transformers Fans a few well received titles in the past such as: Transformers: The Ark (Vol. 1 and 2) and the fan favorite Transformers Animated: The Allspark Almanac (Vol. 1 and 2).
The product description lends a little insight as to what we might expect from this new project:

USA Today has a first look with an exclusive sneak peak at the first wave of G.I. Joe Retaliation movie figures. Figure shown include Roadblock, Cobra Commander, Cobra Trooper, Duke, G.I. Joe Trooper, Red Ninja, Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, and Zartan. The ninja figures shown, plus the new GI Joe trooper feature “rocker ankles”, which were used recently on GI Joe Renegades Scarlett!
The article states that Retaliation movie toys will be released on May 28th, and goes on to say that the first waves will concentrate closely on the movie cast, but there is a promise that “off-screen” Joes and Cobras will follow in subsequent waves.

Just revealed on the G.I. Joe Convention webpage are some information for the 2012 convention. It has been revealed that the 2010 G.I. Joe Collector’s Convention will be held in New Orleans, Louisiana! The dates are June 21st – June 24th.

ComingSoon.net has just reported that the release date for the G.I. Joe movie sequel, being referred to as Retaliation, will open on June 29th, 2012. ComingSoon.net has also gone on to say that they have confirmed that no official title has been chosen for the film.
It was also stated that the Star Trek sequel being directed by JJ Abrams (also a Paramount movie like the G.I. Joe sequel) was originally supposed to open at the June 29th slot but will now be pushed back to the 2012 Holiday or even Summer of 2013, and the vacant slot was given to the G.I. Joe sequel directed by Jon M. Chu.
If the news is accurate, this puts the sequel less than a year a way from fans of the franchise. [Read more…]
To add to the other G.I. Joe related items put up today for preorder, Sideshow Collectibles just put up a teaser image of their next upcoming 12″ figure environment titled: Urban Threat – Condition Red. The 12″ Firefly and Cobra Viper are used in the image (but do not come with the environment) and we can see part of a brick wall, some torn away steel from a wall, and what appears to be a large bomb or explosive device.
