Posted on March 9, 2018 at 12:04 am by xerofall under Around The Site, HissTank Community

HissTank member samsson37 has just surpassed 80,000 views on his GI Joe/Marvel Fan fiction dio story, The Initiative.

This wildly popular story has all of your favorite Joes and Cobras as well as all the characters from the Marvel Universe wrapped up in one massive tale that will keep you entertained and coming back for more.

Synopsis:

The world changed on that fateful day in 2012. When we found out we weren’t alone. The Alien hordes fell from the sky and the human race looked to be nearing extinction. That day was when the world learned of the Avengers and superpowered beings. That day also signaled the decommission of the GI Joe team. They were rendered obsolete. Government money poured into SHEILD and other agencies equipped to handle larger threats. This was the perfect time for COBRA the ruthless terrorist organization determined to rule the world to go underground and wait. Years have passed and there is a buzz in the underworld. COBRA is ready to return. Nick Fury the director of SHIELD sensing the impending danger decided that it was time to bring back the one team that could crush COBRA once and for all…GI JOE.

Girls of the Finest 2018 Calendar Helping Vets Get A New Leash On Life!

Posted on September 6, 2017 at 11:13 am by DESTRO under Around The Site, HissTank Community

Girls of the Finest 2018 Calendar Helping Vets Get A New Leash On Life!

For our 2018 Girls of the Finest calendar, we are proud to partner with a charity that helps rescue canines from high-kill shelters to become service animals for Veterans with PTSD and other injuries.

HAPPY 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY TO THE FINEST!

So, it’s our 10 year anniversary!! Do not attempt to adjust your screens–we have taken over the airwaves and we’re gonna kick it up a notch this year!!

The Finest: A G.I. Joe Costume Club is thrilled to again partner with K9s for Warriors for the FOURTH annual Girls of the Finest charity calendar! Over the last three years we have been able to donate more and more money to the various charities we’ve partnered with, and in doing so we’ve showed the world just how powerful the G.I. Joe fan community is when it comes to charities for veteran and military-related organizations.

YOU KNOW THE DEAL (and if you don’t, here it is):

The Girls of the Finest Charity Calendar is no ordinary 12-month calendar! Our amazing members are photographed exclusively for this calendar, while portraying many of your favorite G.I. Joe and Cobra characters!

In our charity efforts, we always strive to engage charity organizations that would help assist service men and women after they return home in an impactful way, as many Finest members are active duty service members and veterans. Once again, it’s the Finest’s honor to partner with K9s For Warriors, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing service canines to warriors suffering from Post-traumatic Stress Disability, traumatic brain injury and/or military sexual trauma as a result of military service post 9/11.

Their goal is to empower veterans to return to civilian life with dignity and independence. Ninety-five percent of the canines in the K9s For Warriors’ program come from rescue shelters, and in 2015, the organization was able to raise more than $5.5 million dollars, which allowed them to pair 51 Warriors with service dogs – that’s at least 102 lives saved because of each person’s contribution! In September 2016, K9s for Warriors opened their second kennel, which houses up to 27 dogs in training; the 17,000 sq. ft. training facility now can house and train up to 54 dogs! In May 2017, they trained and graduated their 300th warrior! They’re also diligently pushing the PAWS Act (Puppies Assisting Wounded Servicemembers), which would authorize a five-year, $10 million pilot program to provide trained canines to veterans with Post-traumatic Stress Disability. We decided we wanted to help them reach their goal of helping 12 warriors each month, so ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of the net proceeds earned from the 2017 Girls of the Finest calendar will be donated to K9s for Warriors!

What better way to come together as a fan community and support the Real American Heroes of the U.S. military and their families?

We Need YOU!

We can’t do this without YOU! Only through your donations will this calendar happen. Your contribution of $5 or more will allow us to:

• Compile all the calendar photography

• Design and produce the calendar and all associated perks

• Pay for printing and shipping costs of the calendar and perks

As in previous years, we create EXCLUSIVE content for this campaign that will only be available to those who donate here, including Girls of the Finest trading cards, postcards, patches, t-shirts and NEW SURPRISE TIERS!!! Just like the last three years, these perks will only be produced in limited quantities and once they’re gone, THEY’RE GONE!

Everyone who donates $5 or more will receive exclusive Girls of The Finest item(s). Anyone donating $25 or more will receive the calendar PLUS exclusive items! (See perks on the right for a complete list)

* NOTE: We are happy to ship calendars and perks anywhere in the world! If you are in Canada, please add $7 to your donation to cover shipping. If you are outside North America, please email us your location and we will let you know what additional shipping charges may apply.

How to Get Involved

Donating funds is the #1 way to get involved, but if you can’t contribute financially, that doesn’t mean you can’t help! You can spread the word about our campaign! Share our link on Facebook, Twitter or other social media. Let other fandom groups know what we’re doing and use the Indiegogo share tools to spread the word. Harness the power of the Internet to help us achieve our goal with the K9s For Warriors! Get involved however you can – all help is appreciated!

The Impact You Make

The more funds we collect, the more funds go to K9s For Warriors and to the veterans and their families who need our help! We want to be able to help out the men and women who sacrifice so much for us every single day. We value and appreciate their contributions and sacrifices and we want to show them how much they mean to us all.

This is a community call to action! Please join us, and together, let’s make a huge difference in the lives of military personnel and families!

Thank you!!!!!

Make sure to check them out here: Girls of the Finest 2018 Calendar!

Posted on February 8, 2016 at 4:59 pm by Shin Densetsu under Around The Site

Last week, some of our crew was able to attend Mezco‘s pre-Toy Fair event. On display was their One:12 Collective line. The One:12 Collective line has received great reviews overall and has raised the bar for 6″ figures. It also looks like Mezco has another specific property in mind.

Mezco revealed that they want to make One:12 Collective GI Joe figures. Now the question is, do you want this to happen? Discuss!

RUMOR – If The Cobra Rattler Returns In 2016, How Would You Want It To Look?

Posted on January 16, 2016 at 2:07 pm by C.I.A.D. under Around The Site, G.I. Joe 50th Anniversary

There’s been rumblings in the Community since the tail end of last year regarding a rumor that the Cobra Rattler is making a comeback to stores in 2016. Our own Shin Densetsu has raised a question currently being discussed on the boards – Hypothetically speaking, if the Rattler did make a come back in 2016, would you want it to be a classic Cobra Blue Rattler release, or would you like to see a new take on the vehicle?

The Cobra Rattler was last seen in 2008, followed by the Tiger Rat in 2009. Would you want to see one of these vehicles again, or would you prefer a different take, like the 1997 G.I.Joe A-10 Thunderbolt, or maybe something completely new? Either way, this is all just rumor for now, but if you could have your way, what would it be? Sound off on the HissTank.com forums!

Creating GI Joe – A New Art Book Kickstarter Launched.

Posted on October 20, 2015 at 12:23 pm by xerofall under Around The Site, G.I. Joe Vintage, HissTank Community

HissTank member Dansjoes has launched a kickstarter for a new book of art, production sketches and tons of insider information on the creation of G.I. Joe A Real American Hero titled “3.75 Inch Joe: The Special Forces Team that forged an American Hero” book series, Volume 1!

The first book in the series, “3.75 Inch Joe: The Special Forces Team that forged an American Hero (Volume 1)” is an 80 page, 9”X10” library of designs and stories ranging from 1982-1994, including some unproduced concepts! This fully colored book will be printed on 100# paper in a Soft Perfect Bind format with a visible spine like a graphic novel.

Although there have been many books written about G.I. Joe®, what makes “3.75 Inch Joe: The Special Forces Team that forged an American Hero” series unique is the fact that the information shared within the book comes from exclusive interviews with former employees who worked on the G.I. Joe® brand. Some of the things to expect include:

• The inspiration and influences behind the different figures and vehicles straight from the designers’ point of view…
• Alternate names for figures and vehicles pulled from Larry Hama’s dossiers or from the original concepts themselves…
• Insider stories from former employees ranging from Marketing to Engineering regarding the changes that occurred during the design process…
• Conceptual designs and photographs that will show the progression and different stages of creating a figure or vehicle. This includes concept pencils and inks, sculpture sheets, color studies, color presentation art, models, and much much more!

Click on the kickstarter link and let’s get this book funded!

G.I. Joe 6 Inch Ultimate Face-Off Most Wanted Poll

Posted on August 13, 2015 at 2:47 pm by DESTRO under Around The Site

G.I. Joe 6 Inch Ultimate Face-Off Most Wanted Poll

With the growing number of G.I. Joe fans wanting a new 6-Inch Black Series styled line. I have been getting a lot of request for us to do a most wanted line-up for Hasbro to take a look at if they decide to move forward with such a project. Thanks to HISSTANK.com boards member Saboteur for finally pushing me to get the ball rolling on this project.

The goal is for each member to select your top 10 want list and have them face off in poll style until we come up with a nice fan selected first wave of 4 figures.

HISSTANK.com board members are to select in detail the name and version type of the character they would want to see in the upcoming line-up. If you want to see a “Duke” made be specific and say “Resolute Duke”. We will compile the results of this thread in a few weeks and start face-off polls sometime in the future with those results.
