Lots of new details have emerged about the third GI Joe movie. Of course it’s still way off in the future, so take all this information with a grain of salt, but the details are pretty exciting.
Paramount Pictures is looking to position the dynamic entertainer at the center of their floundering G.I. Joe franchise by making him the lead in G.I. Joe: Ever Vigilant, set to be released March 27, 2020.
Working off a script from the writing duo of Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, Mission: Impossible-Ghost Protocol), the film is set to see Johnson’s Roadblock, who first appeared in 2013’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation, assemble a new team of Joes to stop terrorists from launching a dark matter WMD that will turn their targets to dust!
Corsican twins, the Paoli brothers will be the film’s main antagonists. While Tomax will do his work as a ruthless politician, his more unhinged and scarred twin Xamot will take care of the dirty work. Fans will remember the two were high-ranking Cobra officials and headed the Crimson Guard for a time and while we’re not entirely sure what part Cobra will play in the larger plot, we are told to expect a cameo from Cobra Commander!
As for the team that Roadblock will assemble, it seems that Appelbaum and Nemec really hit the books and are giving us a mix of some newer Joes along with some great old timers that should provide nostalgic 80’s kids with plenty to smile about. The script calls for the returns of Scarlet, Snake Eyes and General Joe Colton and a whole slew of new recruits.
One of two female leads, Janack is a Czech marksman brought in by Roadblock to help lead his group of Joes. In the comics, Janack was a member of the elite Czech unit known as the Oktober Guard, a group of Eastern European specialists who were basically the equivalent of the Joes.
One of the world’s top nuclear physicists, Burkhart is brought in from the UPA (Unexplained Phemonenon Agency) to consult on the dark matter inside the WMD.
Of course there’s more… characters like Wild Bill, Barbeque, Flagg, Doc, Keel Haul.
Introducing the Whatnot G.I. Joe Super Deformed figures and Vehicles that are 4.5 inches tall and 2.5 inches tall, are fully articulated and poseable and come with accessories, which are usually the weapon they are known for.

Today we have a look at the SDCC IDW Revolution Box Set. This featured figures from many lines, and most of the 3.75 figures use G.I. Joe bodies as their base. In particular Roadblock was a treat due to his being a previously unreleased Renegades figure needed to complete the line up. Looks like G.I. Joe is getting a fresh coat of paint. Thanks to CBR.com we have our first look and information at the new series that will continue post Revolution.
From what I read over on the CBR article it will have a more Sunbow cartoon feel and they want more action. Both are good things.

Finally! The long overdue Hasbro Universe comes together under one flag, IDW’s Revolution! Our first taste of the run that will crossover into many Hasbro properties, including M.A.S.K., ROM, Transformers and others was launched at SDCC 2016 with Issue #0. To be honest, the book was kinda vanilla and didn’t open to many eyes they way I would have hoped. However fans of the many lines that showed up in issue #0 seen growing excitement, at that point that’s all that mattered. Fast forward to the eve of Revolution and it’s time to kick off what will hopefully be the future of all these brands and a combined Hasbro Universe….. IDW did not disappoint!
With San Diego Comic Con 2016 just a week away, more reveals are making their way to the internet. A little under two weeks ago, we shared The Loyal Subjects SDCC 2016 Exclusive G.I.Joe Tiger Force Wreckage & Beach Head 2 Pack with you.
This time around, we get to take a look at another two pack, plus a pair of figures that are sure to delight TLS fans. Included in the preview is Tiger Force Dusty and Roadblock, plus Crimson Baroness and Commando Snake Eyes (All Black Deco). This will be available at SDCC 2016 and if any are left over, will be available directly through The Loyal Subjects.

Back in 2013, Hasbro was releasing “Ultimate Gift Sets” for its action figure lines such as Star Wars and Transformers. A GI Joe Ultimate Gift Set was in the works and actually listed on Amazon for a time. Unfortunately, this set was cancelled and we never saw the actual figures planned for inclusion….until now.
GI Joe Retaliation Ultimate Gift Set
We aren’t completely sure if all of the accessories to be included, are actually shown in the pictures. Slice and Nunchuk both ended up being released in the GI Joe Collector’s Club Subscription line(with some different tooling compared to what’s seen here). Unfortunately, movie accurate Retaliation Cobra Commander and the specific Roadblock seen here remain to be seen. Sure, we did get a Ultimate Roadblock figure in 2013 but it wasn’t as comprehensive as this.
The “Ultimate Gift Set” Roadblock featured 3 heads: classic, movie and 1 from GI Joe Renegades! It also came with different gear to swap out. Had this set been released, fans would’ve finally gotten a fairly movie-accurate Retaliation Cobra Commander and the sole member missing from the core Renegades team. Could there still be hope? Hasbro doesn’t like sitting on unused tooling and who knows what’s going on with GI Joe 3?
