He’s a master of make-up and disguise, ventriloquist, linguist, acrobatic-contortionist, and practitioner of several mystic martial arts. All this makes him almost impossible to find or capture. When Hit & Run and Torpedo close in on him, he heads into the swamp and uses every trick he knows to escape from the persistent G.I. Joe pair.

We finally have a run of 10 pages that could be considered “Cobra Rising”, after we are two-issues deep. The Death of Snake Eyes story is still mixed in issue #217, but we do get a few cool Cobra’s that show up, as well as a take on an old school classic vehicle, even tho it makes no sense why Cobra would be using it? Anyway it’s a small… very small step forward.

From the Official International G.I.Joe Collectors Convention Website comes word of the first official guest of JoeCon 2015 – Mr. Zack Hoffman, better known to G.I.Joe fans as the voice of the Dreadnok Leader, Zartan! The following is a brief excerpt from the JoeCon page post –

ZACK HOFFMAN has been making his living in front of the microphone for over thirty years. His portrayal of Zartan, the evil Cobra mercenary, is a fan favorite among G.I. Joe fans. The release of the original G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero cartoon series on DVD has brought him new fans, which now spans three generations. Zack started out dubbing Spanish Soap Operas into English for Telemundo. At the same time he was working with the Improv troupe “The LA Connection” and joined the Screen Actors Guild when Ingrid Bergman used his voice for a few characters in the English looping of Fanny and Alexander. When the original G.I. Joe cartoon was being developed, most of the voices had already been cast by the time Zack was contacted, but as it turned out… director Wally Burr was having trouble finding just the right voice for Zartan. Zack’s audition was exactly what Wally was looking for and he was given the roll. Zartan appeared in 36 episodes and the 1987 animated movie.

With Mr. Hoffman attending, could this mean we’re getting a Zartan figure as part of the JoeCon Exclusive box set? Only time will tell, but for now, feel free to speculate with the rest of us here on the Hisstank.com forums!
