Extreme Sets 1/18 Scale Cabin and Bar Dioramas

Posted on August 7, 2020 at 4:19 pm by Tony_Bacala under Compatible Military Toys, Photo Shoots

Extreme Sets have been producing great cardboard based dioramas for years now. Most have been at the 1/12 scale, perfect for Marvel Legends, Black Series and now G.I. Joe Classified. They have however produced several 1/18 scale pieces that work great with our vintage and modern era 3 & 3/4th scale Joes.

Today we are taking a look at two of their newer 1/18th scale sets – The Cabin and The Bar. Each are smaller versions of 1/12th sets. The Cabin seems to be inspired by a classic movie featuring evil and dead things. The Bar is a unique set featuring a counter, multiple seating booths, opening bathroom door and tons of signage you’d find in a local dive bar. Both give you some new environments beyond the standard warehouse or warzone rubble buildings to display your figs.

Read on to check out our shots of both – there are some basic overview shots and we hired the Dreadnoks to show off a bit too.

These are both out now over on Extreme-Sets.com, who also sent these through for us to review. I’d also suggest scanning their 1/12 sets now that G.I. Joe Classified is in full effect!

Extreme Sets 1/18 Scale Pop Up Dioramas Review

Posted on September 5, 2019 at 12:12 pm by Tony_Bacala under Compatible Military Toys, Photo Shoots

118 Building Extreme 17

Extreme Sets have been making cardboard based pop up dioramas for a couple years now, branching out from their wrestling roots and giving us environments to fit all our action figure themes. Most of these have been at the 1/12 scale, working with Marvel Legends, NECA, Star Wars Black Series and the like. Today that changes with the introduction of two new 1/18 scale sets. The Building 3.0 and the Deranged Alley 2.0. Building 3.0 is new, it just dropped in the 1/12 scale. The Deranged Alley 2.0 is a remix of one of their most popular sets, I’ve used it a lot for Marvel Legends and DC figures over on Toyark (Hit that link to see the 1/12 sets in action). Both of these now work with 3.75 / 4 / 1/18 scale. Prior to today, the only other one from Extreme Sets was the Command Station, which was cool but a little sci-fi. These new ones allow for some real world displays and photographing options.

Both sets feature the same modular display system Extreme Sets is known for – cardboard panels that tab together and can be reconfigured to your liking. You can create cornered street scenes or wrap them around into a building. The Building 3.0 set also comes with a roof if you choose to go building style. The Alley comes with flooring as well, and you can buy additional ground packs in the 1/12 scale to supplement that, or use with the Building set.

All in all they are great ways to get some spice into your G.I. Joe toy photography or display areas. We’ve run the sets for some pics to show what they can do and how they can be used, read on to check out over 55 HD images after the break! The 1/18 scale sets are in stock and shipping now at Extreme Sets. If you use code TOYARK at checkout, you’ll get 15% off your order!

Extreme Sets Command Station 1/18th Scale Diorama Photo Review

Posted on May 10, 2017 at 7:16 pm by Tony_Bacala under Compatible Military Toys, Photo Shoots

Extreme Sets have been banging out cardboard based Dioramas for a while now, starting with Wrestling themed ones and more recently moving into the Multiverse line that focuses on all genres. Waves 1 and 2 are out and you can check reviews for them over on Toyark. Up until now, these sets have been for 6/7 inch scale figures, so unless you were using it as a far away backdrop in photography, it didn’t really work for G.I. Joe and 3.75 figures. The Command Station set changes that. It is designed for 3.75 scale figures and is huge, spanning 2 stories at 16 inches tall, and roughly 60 inches wide depending on how you configure it all. It gives you an instant base for your Joes or Cobras for use in photography or just out on display with your collection. This is not specific to G.I. Joe either, so you can use it with any 1/18th scale line that you think it fits with.

We’ve done up a detailed set of pictures showing what it can do, so read on to check out over 45 HD images of the Joe team hanging out in their makeshift base!

Also of note: The fine folks at Extreme-Sets.com have given us a coupon code for a discount on your orders. Enter code TOYARK at checkout and get 10% off your order!
