The guy from One Tree Hill and Step Up and countless other cranked out teen crap while maintaining the same stupid brooding look?
They seriously couldn't have found a better person?
Agkh.

im getting the vibe that an amalgamation of RAH and SIGMA 6 is occuring with this movie.

well, i gotta say it, and it sucks. Ive been quiet all this time, even when I heard who was directing, and when the third rock dude was attatched, and wayans, but yeah, i gotta say it now.
Cant say that Im gonna be in a hurry to see this one. I know the movie is gonna be for a "young and hip" audience, but im the bastard whos been shelling money out to this franchise since I was 6 years old (okay, some was my parents money).
This movie obviously aint being made for me, so broken heartedly I say "pass"
Maybe they will hit their target audience, im just sad that they couldnt consider me as part of their target audience.
May as well be a new CW mini-series with guest stars from the cast of Smallville and Veronica Mars.

Cobra Commander being his best friend makes sense now; this dumb ass couldn't figure out his room mate in college was a chick, even after he found "him" in the bathroom with a bra.

I think people, by and large, like to complain.
Seriously, I laugh out loud every time there's a casting choice, because I know I will come here and watch people start writing off a movie that hasn't even been made yet. Hilarious, really.
Back in the early '90s, when "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" was on TV, did anyone really think that Will Smith was capable of intense and dramatic roles like he played in the movie, "The Pursuit of Happiness" (I think that's what it was called)? Or how about Tom Hanks when "Splash" came out. Could anyone have dreamed that Tom Hanks could do anything more than rompy comedies? The same can be said of a lot of other actors.
Some of these actors are young and haven't had a real chance to show or exercise their acting chops. For all we know, Channing could be chomping at the bit to demonstrate that he's got what it take to be a great actor. There's no way of knowing that he's incapable of playing Duke. No possible way. I'm not saying that this is necessarily going to be the case, but you never know. So, how about giving him a chance without automatically assuming that he (or the other actors they've hired) will sink the GI Joe movie?
Honestly, I wouldn't have made a lot of the casting choices that they've made. However, I'm willing to trust their judgment in casting until such a time that I can view the movie and determine if it's good or if it's garbage.
Of course, now that I've said that, they'll announce next week that they've hired Pauly Shore to play Destro. ;)

I do not doubt some of the cast of this movie have serious acting chops. I just question whether they will have a chance to exercise those skills. We are not talking about a serious dramatic venture here, and I bet most of the acting will take place in front of a blue screen knowing Sommer's love of CGI. Typically acting is a lot dryer and detached in that scenario. I think actors will wind up taking a backseat to explosions and other special effects. Hopefully we will see some of the actors give satisfying performances even if the characterizations do not fully fit the classic Marvel mold.

Some posts have been deleted since they were becoming offensive and had nothing to do with the discussion. You don't like an actor, feel free to say so but you don't have to start throwing out insults
