HISS Tank boards member kennywr22 came through last week with some updated information about how the G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra line was doing at Target. While most of the information dealt with the upcoming planograms for January, there was a nugget of information that is of interest for Sigma 6 and Pursuit of Cobra fans:
The rip attack and mech suit things are in the system but no counts even coming to the DC’s which means we will see nothing for a while. If you’ll remember, back in JoeCon2009, the Hasbro panel showed a teaser image of the Iron Hammer Mech which stated that 3-3/4″ mech suits would be coming in late 2010, for both G.I. Joe and Cobra. Being that these suits are already listed in the computers is a good sign, because it isn’t even 2010 yet! So chances are these are definitely going to be released.
The Sigma 6 Iron Hammer Mech was one of the most popular vehicles in the line. Many a ‘Tanker here retooled theirs to accomodate DTC and 25th Anniversary G.I. Joe figures. Images surfaced of the unreleased Shadow Hammer Mech a couple of times, including this past summer. The Shadow Hammer Mech was highly anticipated, and as the saying goes, “good things come to those who wait”. Being that it was molded in dark colors, could it now be rebranded as a Cobra release?
Since the mech suits are for the Pursuit of Cobra line, and Hasbro’s teaser from JoeCon stated 3-3/4″, it’s an educated guess that these mech suits have been retooled to accomodate 25th Anniversary style construction figures(25th Anniversary/Modern Era/Resolute/Rise of Cobra/Pursuit of Cobra).
Could these mech suits also be part of a 5th Anniversary Sigma 6 line? Or will select releases from the Pursuit of Cobra line pay tribute to the 5th anniversary for Sigma 6? Yes folks, by the time Fall 2010 hits, it will have been 5 years since the debut of the popular and sorely missed, Sigma 6 line!

Ok so i've seen the new planogram that sets in January and i must say i'm a little surprised at the little change in it. The gi joe section is pretty much the same with only the action battlers and a rescue mission set, and a couple role playing things not carrying over. Even the friggin giant Duke is staying?? So it definetly looks like the whole POC line is not coming anytime soon. This truely sucks. My only hope is that usally around march/april there are revisions to the action figure aisle in time for the movie releases and maybe we will see something then. The rip attack and mech suit things are in the system but no counts even coming to the DC's which means we will see nothing for a while. Kind of crappy news but in a way i feel the line kinda took off after the price drop and dvd release so maybe they want to give retailers more time which is probably a good idea. The figures sold a combined 34,000 eaches last week.(22,000 asst a, 12,000 asst b) Nice numbers.

I wasn't expecting any of the PoC stuff til end of the year.
The Doc and Shipwreck and that stuff still bears the Rise of Cobra packaging. So will probably see those.
Thanks for the update.

Thank you for the info. How do you know all this stuff being in Florida? Target is a Minneapolis based company, I have a friend that is in their IT department here in the cities.

Sales numbers look good.
Hopefully the 2010 figure waves will just replace the wave 5 2009 reorders in January and surprise us all.

I thought POC was going to be, at least initially, ROC stuff broken into the 4 themes, like wave 5? If an actual change to POC comes, it may all be the same DCPI and not need a change since the assorment styles are similar. Do any items have NCF (non-carry-forward) on them?
I'm glad they arent going to cram it all down to a peg and a half at least.

Well maybe they'll discount the rescue set. I could use another Black Resolute SE.

I think target should turn into a dollar store.

thanks for the info. so alot of the PoC stuff we've seen are going to be repackaged as RoC? I'm starting to feel that some stores are hesitating on ordering new lines when they have a lot of existing stock, hence the repackaging.

Any JLU stuff on that planogram?
