HISS Tank boards member fdny71 has reviewed some rather rare figures from GI Joe Rise Of Cobra:
- Snake Eyes with web gear
- Storm Shadow from the final duel, unmasked; shirtless
We have not seen these figures since late last year. Even then, what we saw last year were unpainted preproduction samples. To catch a glimpse of these rare figures and to see how they turned out, hit the title bar!

Actually I just remembered these were the third versions as the second were the Walmart exclusives with the Ninja bikes.
Even though I've been collecting many different lines of action figures since the 80s, this is technically my first review. It's light on description and the pics aren't that sharp, but then again I rushed this as doing this review caused me to sprain my thumb (lots of boxes of figures fell on it). However, since I benefit so many times from other's reviews, I felt it was time for me to contribute.
I saw these figs on a Hasbro prezo awhile back during some sort of con.. can't remember where or when but I'm sure others here on the Tank have seen these too.. But I have never actually seen these figures in stores, not even on ebay. But this past January, my girlfriend (MsKeito) and I saw these while in Greece. Being the bestest girlfriend ever, she bought me two of each of the 12" Snake Eyes and 12" Storm Shadow as a gift.
I'm not sure if these ever made it here to the US as I mentioned earlier, I haven't seen them. I do apologize if these have already been reviewed here. I've been meaning to review these since I got them, but am finally getting to it now.
Snake Eyes v3
This version does not come with any of the electronics as the v1 Snake Eyes. Nor does it have the spring action feature on his left arm. I'm not a fan of these gimmicks when the triggers ruin the aesthetic of the figure (ie. the large button on the back, and the Joe Symbol on his left pec, and the speaker holes on his abs)
He doesn't come with his trademark Uzi but does come with his sword and handgun.

Storm Shadow v3
This version is unmasked and also lacks those annoying action features of v1. He no longer has the limp wrist, nor the annoying large button on his back. Unfortunately, that button was also part of this dual-sheaths which were attached to the body. So I will have to do some minor modding to have his swords sheathed. He does still retain the Arashikage Clan tattoo and now has fresh scars painted on his body, replicating the final battle scene with Snake Eyes in RoC.
His pants are a new satin-like material, glossier and whiter than the v1. The boots are the same. He does now have cloth gauntlets. He has his two swords, gun and those unrealistic kid-friendly throwing stars, but no belt and holster.
I've already swapped out the figure and gear and think it's a vast improvement.
Anyway, that's it for now.. Hope you enjoy the review, and more importantly, hope my thumb heals!

Just wanted to add an update
I just watched RoC again and to my surprise this version of Snake Eyes is screen accurate. He wore the pouches in his grand entrance during the desert ambush scene (so I edited the first post)
Also I want to correct that the snake eyes body is indeed different in that the neck now has the standard swivel/rotate articulation.
One last edit is that the Arashikage tattoo is now smaller on his shoulder.
For the few 12" RoC collectors out there I strongly recommend getting both of these if you can find them.

These are also in discount shops in the UK. I didn't pay much attention to them though, their not great figures at all.

That Snake Eyes reminds me of his look in DDP's GI Joe: Reloaded.

please, Hasbro, just stop making 12" figures until you figure out that all you have to do is take your 25th style design and make it larger, and your proportions will be fantastic. there simply is no need for that ridiculously strange giraffe cylinder neck, scrawny arms, and minimal detail. sure, it is like the original 12" construction, but kids don't care that they are constructed like a toy in the 60's.
but a generic 25th style 12" body that they could then clothe over with soft good clothing and weapons and you will have great figures.

Thanks for posting pictures, the 12 inch line has never been of interest to me for obvious reasons. But its cool to see some new Joe stuff.
