In 1989, G.I.Joe returned to the air waves via DiC Entertainment with Operation: Dragonfire, a 5 part mini-series. The following year, 1990, brought the return of the 30 minute animated series to either morning or afternoon slots on local programming networks. Throughout this whole time, the G.I.Joe Action Figure franchise marched on, introducing new figures and vehicles every year, with 1990 being no exception.
One of the figure and vehicle sets offered that year was the G.I.Joe Avalanche and it’s driver, Cold Front. This awesome vehicle had a ton of play features, from an Ice Mine Launcher to a removable Rear Drone that carried another G.I.Joe figure (one would assume wave mate Sub Zero). Although at times it was portrayed in Desert Combat Arenas, I thankfully never had to use it outside of snowy conditions, thanks to your typical northeast winter.
As winter approaches, I was reminded of the Avalanche and all the fun I had re-inacting scenes from the cartoon series. I recently had the pleasure of adding a custom Avalanche made by Hisstank.com forum member KrymsynGardImmoral to my collection. What are your thoughts on the 1990 G.I.Joe Avalanche and Cold Front? Is this a piece currently in your collection? One that you’d like to add? Or perhaps is it one that you’d prefer to skip all together? Sound off on the Hisstank.com Vintage Forums!

What are your thoughts on the 1990 G.I.Joe Avalanche?
I commissioned a custom Avalanche through KrymsynGardImmoral. I've always loved this vehicle, but having it updated just gave it a certain "pop" that has made me fall in love with it all over again. I added 1994 Snow Storm figure (black/gray/white) as the Drone pilot and kept Cold Front as it's driver (naturally). Here's a link to the piece in question:

If you have pictures, post'em up!

I loved this vehicle as a kid. we need more arctic stuff and I wish this and the driver would get remade...though with joe being dead in the water its highly unlikely.

I've always had such a soft spot for this vehicle. I just had so much fun with it when I was younger. I'm glad Krym was able to breathe new life in to my old one.

I'm pretty sure that this was the last Joe vehicle that I got as a kid. Definitely holds a special place in my heart.

You know, I really didn't like the camo on the Wolfhound/Snow Cat, but it looks great on the Avalanche.
