In recent discussions here on the Hisstank.com forums, many wondered what the next direction for G.I.Joe should be. Should the brand continue to embrace a Military theme, or should an Adventure Team concept be visited, where kids (and who are we kidding, adults too) can “make pretend” to be Astronauts, Marine Biologists, or lead a Safari Expedition, similar to this amazing Custom Modern Era Adventure Team Safari Expedition created by Hisstank.com forum and Phoenix Customs Member OreoBuilder.
Taking cues from the Fisher-Price Safari playset introduced in the 70s, OB has done a fantastic job in recreating a Safari Expedition that fits perfectly in to the Adventure Team world. OB notes that these pieces were originally destined to be Big Jim homages, but evolved in to a stand alone play set (and rightfully so!)
This Expedition set really takes everything in to consideration, from the personnel selected, to the gear that’s included. You can see the Safari Expedition for yourself after the break!

To add to my modern Adventure Team, I made a Safari Expedition inspired by the 1970s Adventure People set. The characters started out as Big Jim homages, but ended being stand alone figures with no ties to Jim. They still need a few touch-ups and finishing touches, but I like how they came out.

Awesome, I used to have that Fisher Price orange jeep when I was a kid, but never knew where it was from, till now. As always great work.

SO awesome...but please don't get started on modern Adventure People customs, I don't think I can handle that. AP was my favorite toy line when I was really young, right before the Kenner SW stuff came out. My brother and I had tons of them. I'd love more than anything a modern era-style AP line of toys.

Awesome OB! I had that set as a kid and that jeep and trailer had a lot of joes riding around in them!

Very nice. Is the jeep you used from the Animal Planet series at TRU?
