At first glance it doesn't look like much was changed on the Fang. You can see the nose gun has been modified to include a hose now and the red missiles now have a hole in the middle of them. (Presumably to attach to the Claw) Two of the biggest changes are in the cockpit. The seat has been pushed back and lowered to allow the new figures to fit (The back peg has also been updated) and the control stick has been updated to look more realistic. The control stick is attached to the fuselage by way of a ball joint so it can now move around! The other changes aren't quite as big. The roll bar for the engine has been retooled to actually fit around the engine so there are no worries about it breaking anymore. The engine has received some new details like rivets, hoses and some ridges at the end of the exhaust. One of the oddest changes was that the tail section was elongated making the new Fang longer than the original one by about half an inch. The skids look to be the same but the figure pegs on them are thinner to accommodate the new figures.
I loved the Fang as a child and it's good to know that the new version is just the same with a few needed updates.

Even though the artwork on the box shows the Viper on the Claw and the Trooper in the Fang, the Viper was packaged sitting in the Fang. This is the same Viper we got in Wave 7, just in a different color scheme. He's got a black helmet with grey removable goggles, red shirt and pants, grey removable vest with blue highlights, grey gloves with blue pads and grey boots. Air Trooper Viper comes with a black Viper Rifle, grey Backpack and Cobra Stand.
This figure's color scheme seems to have come right out of left field. I think this might have been better had they used a regular Viper or maybe even a "night force" deco on this figure. As it is, he's pretty garish.

I may try the Viper's head on the CLAW pilot's body and vice versa.
Mattafact, how 'bout you try that for us and show us what it looks like, prettyprettyprettyplease?
I agree with your opinion: This would have been a perfect opportunity for Hasbro to do a sweet-looking black/grey Viper. I think some Hasbro executive's child designed the color scheme for this.

tha fang looks kinda cool, but i wonder about some of tha decisions theyve made thus far, i mean how many people agreed on tha color scheme for tha viper. even as a kid, i would think it was hideous

FANG Viper looks like something out of a Fisher Price playset.
Why couldn't Hasbro go with conventionally accepted crimson, black, navy blue, silver and other great "bad guy" colors?
If I manage to get some of these Fisher Price Vipers, I will be willing to trade/sell them with fellow Tankers who want them.
