City Strike Snake Eyes is proof that an even offscreen version of a character can be the the most popular figure of a movie line. Why? Snake Eyes(City Strike) is really the highly anticipated Resolute Snake Eyes! Just with even more weapons and accessories! G.I. Joe Resolute struck a chord with G.I. Joe fans, with even the most diehard fanboys who oft complained about seeing Snake Eyes on shelves, begging for a new Resolute Snake Eyes figure!
Luckily for fans of G.I. Joe Resolute, Hasbro snuck in Resolute Snake Eyes in the G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra line as City Strike Snake Eyes. This is without a doubt, the most sought after figure in wave 5. Of course, someone is noticeably missing, the Arashikage disciple who sought to learn the 7 steps of the sun! Could Resolute Storm Shadow be released in the Pursuit of Cobra line as Storm Shadow(City Strike)? At this point Resolute Snake Eyes lacks his rival sparring partner, but in any case hit the discuss button to see how this figure turned out!

In all my time collecting GI Joe, I can never remember a figure as clamored for by fans as the Resolute version of Snake Eyes.
Brief History:
When Hasbro announced @ SDCC '08 that they had started a new adult geared animation project for the next 5-years & that GI Joe would be their 1st attempt, long-time fans couldn't help but think this was a dream come true. A preview trailer aired showing some gritty animation from Titmouse (makers of the critically acclaimed Avatar the Last Airbender series) @ SDCC & thru bootlegs leaked thru the internet, & fans praised what they saw ... bullets? sure... Snake Eyes hacking Cobra Troopers? Sign us up! A short-run figure line by Hasbro based on the animation to support the series was planned to help bridge the gap between the ending of the 25th/Modern Era & the new "Rise Of Cobra" film, but plans on both the animation's & retailer's end changed that. The animation was not quite on schedule... but the figures were & @ the end of 2008 fans saw the release of 3 single figures, followed by 2 Resolute themed-comic packs & a Resolute geared 5-pack before Retailers pulled the plug on Modern GI Joe & before the planned micro-series could drop. Eventually the animation got new wind (but the figures were canceled for the time being) & the internet (thru Adult Swim) had a rapid-fire release of the animation online as micro-episodes (as intended) with a late-night showing on Cartoon Network at the end of the week. Fans were mostly stunned & immediately voiced their want for the unreleased Resolute figures (only visible from Chinese test-shot leaks at this point) which included the likes of Snake Eyes, Scarlett, Destro, the Baroness & more... Clearly Hasbro saw the demand was there, & with prototypes/test-shots of fan favorite Resolute Snake Eyes hitting high numbers on ebay, Hasbro saw fit to release him sooner than later, & now he's here, in ROC packaging labeled as "City Strike Snake Eyes."
FIGURE:
The packaging may be "fine-tuned" to match with the beginnings of the environmentally themed 2010 line "The Pursuit Of Cobra", but the Resolute Snake Eyes figure remains unchanged within. Designed to merge commando & ninja with a modern day-theme, this gray-SE design seems universally well received as the perfect hybrid of the classic '82-'85 vibe meeting current military standards. The design from the animation is transfered beautifully here in a sculpt that not only strongly resembles the animation model & all of it's elements, but also offers a superior range of motion not usually seen this well executed & meeting/exceeding the same standard we have seen with the best of the ROC figures. His elbows & knees& other joints have a great range of motion & his detailing & pallet are near character model perfect.
WEAPONS:
Decked out with a FULL arsenal Snake Eyes is a weapons lover dream as he comes fully stocked with gear. As with the Rescue Mission SE, we see that City Strike SE has snow hiking shoes, small backpack, scabbard, sword, knife, FN Herstal FNP, HK short rifle, HK G36 assault rifle, & a ROC stand.
In addition, instead of a missile launcher seen on most ROC figures, SE comes with the same great zipline backpack previously seen on the Arctic SE.
Simply put City Strike/Resolute Snake Eyes is one of the BEST modern GI Joe figures made, & as a love letter to fans Hasbro saw fit to get him into our hands as soon as they could via the Movie line despite the hiccups in the Resolute launch, & I for one am thankful. He comes fully loaded, beautifully sculpted, & is sure to be a hard to find @ retail fan-favorite as most will not pass him up, & his close release to the Resolute DVD makes him all the sweeter to have now. Don't miss him!!
Highly Recommended.

Great review. He's my favorite figure to this very day. Give it just a few minutes and you'll get a small cluster of people talking about how much they hate him. I made a thread for folks like that.
Anyway, small correction- that isn't a FN Five-seveN. It is a FN pistol, though. It's the FN Herstal FNP. Both are very good pistols, and reliable as hell.

The large rifle Snake Eyes is wielding is the HK G36 assault rifle. It is similar in function to most NATO assault rifles (gas-operated blowback, selective fire) and fires 5.56mm rounds. It is growing increasingly popular and outperforms most assault rifles in every category, with the exception to the AK47, which dominates in actual stopping/killing power (amazing how it's always a suck weapon in video games, ain't it?)

After all the talk, and all the hype, and everybody searching every single target, walmart, meijer, khols, tru, aldis, sears, kmart, biggs, whatever,
I could careless about this damn figure.
I bought the target set, I fiddled around with the snake eyes, and its like every other figure so far.
I get more enjoyment out of the red fang ninja.
But to be truthful, when I find the holy wave (city strike snake eyes also known as resolute snake eyes) 5, I'm gonna pick him up. I'm gonna get him at walmart too, cuz he is worth only $5.

Love it. Not a ten, only because I felt they should have included a place to put his knife and pistol, or at least just the pistol.
I think it's better than a nine, though! Like, 9.5 at least!
