When it was first announced that Jon M Chu will direct G. I. Joe 2, many people wondered whether a Dance Movie Director is up to the job. But from day one, Mr. Jon Chu showed care and attention to the franchise we know and love.
Recently the Director of G. I. Joe: Retaliation had a chat with MTV Geek and he had this to say…
“I really want to push how we use the 3-D. Especially since we pushed the movie date, I want to fulfill the promise to the fans that the 3-D will be great, and enhances the experience of the movie. So every step of the way, I’m in that room, watching… It’s hurting my eyes, but we’re getting it better, and pushing it further.”“Fortunately, a lot of our shots, I guess it was in my brain anyway,” continued Chu, laughing. “We had a lot of depth in our shots, or let our shots play longer. For me, if we’re going to do this, we have to make sure it enhances the experience. That’s where we are right now, and it’s a slow painful process, to be honest!”
Even though the movie is technically done, and with no natively shot 3-D footage, all the shots need to be post-converted, that doesn’t mean Chu has given up on making some tweaks. “I’m trying to convince them to give me a couple days to do a couple of enhancements,” said Chu. “But as of right now, we’ll see what they let me do. I really want to shoot some of the sections in 3-D to give it that edge… But we’ll see if time permits, and they’re down to do that.”
He had tons more to tell. Find out at MTV Geek.

He's really going all out on this movie, but frankly if it was never shot in 3D, I won't be watching it in 3D.
Come to think about it, in a way I'm glad Paramount changed the date for the Movie release. Nine months is a long way but G.I Joe just doesn't have to be a major Blockbuster hit. Especially when you're right in the middle of Avengers and Amazing Spiderman. The Movie would have bombed and it would have been another major scar for the G.I. Joe name. I wish you the best Mr. Chu and your take of G.I. Joe.

I believe we've hit the half-way mark for the 9 month delay. March will be here before we know it!

I cant wait for this movie. I know its not going to be a masterpiece but it will be fun to watch regardless. It has to be better then ROC and that's good enough for me.

It sounds like he wants to do some more 3D stuff, but the studio or whatever might not let him. I mean they already spent all that extra money in delaying it and doing re-shoots and converting it to 3D... might as well just let him make the movie he wants.
And I am actually more excited to see Retaliation now than from before for some reason. LOL.

All I read is blah blah blah, blah blah blah blah." This movie was not filmed in 3D, and therefore, it will not look right in 3D.

One positive thing I can think of is that there certainly won't be Avengers/Spider-man/Batman kinds of competition in March. If they get to call themselves the #1 movie for 1-3 weeks or so, that will go a long way towards the next sequel. It won't matter that there was nothing to put up against it. It's the number that counts.
