I assume there is a cobra component to this wave too.
The fact that these things are apparently selling well enough to keep cranking out new assortments amazes me. At these prices I will never, ever be able to justify buying even one of them. Only positive thing about them is the artwork. It's technically very well done - although the poses leave a lot to be desired.
I guess I don't understand the "collectible" mindset.
These things are popping out at better rate than Hasbro! C'mon Hasbro! Get your asses in gear!
I guess I'm happy for Super7 that the market's supporting this line but I can't spend $18 for figures when I can get Classified for $13 to $30.
I'm guessing that these things have a much wider profit margin than Classified, for instance. Really, these 5-POA simple-molded pieces of plastic have got to cost only pennies to produce. I bet the cards and artwork is more costly than the actual figure. Even if they are paying Hasbro a 30% licensing fee - the total cost per figure has to be only in the $3-$5 range. I'm sure they can discount them half price and still make a decent profit.
It's crazy how much markup is on some items. My mother-in-law worked at Bath-N-Body works corporate. Those little $8 soaps and fragrances? Three cents to produce.
I think people vastly underestimate the costs involved. Yes, they make a profit... But if you include the tooling costs there's no way these cost $3-5. Many of the sculpts are only used once.
As for the reasons people like them, this is I think really the first line that is presenting these characters as being true to their cartoon appearances. There are characters in this line that I feel pretty safe saying well NEVER be produced in another (Woodsman, Gamemaster soldier, etc).
It's fine if they're not your cup of tea, but to say they have no value beyond artwork is just ridiculous.
There are many choices to collect Joe's today so if some us the fans like these figures, the better, because they keep coming...✌️
