Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Paramount Pictures has reshuffled their release schedule for major tent pole movies, but Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins remains unchanged for its October 23rd release date [for the moment].
A Quiet Place: Part II has been moved to September 7th with Top Gun: Maverick receiving a December 23rd release date as opposed to the original June 24th. The Spongebob Movie: Sponge On The Run shifts to July 31st with the G.I. Joe lookalike; The Tomorrow War (who previously occupied the slot taken by Top Gun: Maverick) obtaining an unspecified release date.
April 2nd came and went and it would have been the day we set our eyes on the poster for Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins at CinemaCon 2020. If the show took place as was originally planned, it would also be the day we hear about the contents of the first trailer for the movie. Henry Golding was to be in attendance, but alas, all fell apart due to the ongoing global crisis.
Nevertheless, we just received an info on the Chinese title of the movie. Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins will be called Special Forces: Battle Of Snake Eyes in China and in Chinese speaking territories.
While we are yet to hear more info regarding the release date of the first trailer, it is likely that we’ll get to see it somewhere in late-April or early-May as it is customary to showcase such a trailer 6 month prior to the release of the movie.
Licensing Expo, which was also planned for May, is also postponed. This event is another avenue which showcases movie posters. Trailers are usually screened behind closed doors.

I find it amusing that the promo still for The Tomorrow War is more G.I. Joe than the actual two movies. :-D

Honestly, I can wait on a movie trailer. It's easy for those of us not directly affected by this pandemic (perhaps only by short supply of things at grocery stores) to forget how real and omnipresent it is, but focus on getting through this period takes massive precedence over a movie trailer. Not to get too didactic or preachy hopefully, but it feels like movie trailers and new toys should be the last of our present focus.
