Mr. Larry Hama has received a special early screening of Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins movie, and he has nice things to say about it.
“Just got home from a private screening of Snake-Eyes. It surpasses my expectations by a lot. Much more of a martial arts film than the last two outings, but still brings in the Joes (through Scarlett) and Cobra (through the Baroness.) Very impressive fight choreography which is mostly practicals, and the acting quality of the leads lends the subject matter much gravitas. There will be those who will not like the deviance from my comics continuity, but I felt it was what needed to be done to make the story work in the present.”
It is likely that we will see more early reviews coming in the upcoming days leading up to the release of the movie on July 23rd.

Love Larry, he’s the man but in this case he’s like every other Hollywood out there, he’s not gonna say nothing bad about it, he must’ve got a good payout outta it as well, besides, for me its not about Snake Eyes race issue, its more about that we’re seeing Snakes Eyes face at all, the whole point of Snake Eyes is he’s a mystery, that is what makes him cool! Clever writers could of done that like they did Dredd or other clever films.... anyways, if they had to go the way they did, how hard would it of been to have the lead dye his hair dirty blonde or something, really?!? Its SNAKE EYES!
Still, lets hope for the best I guess... if they don’t ruin too much GI Joe lore, could be very entertaining and actually good! Scarlett looks great, not sure on Baroness yet lol.

As for "ruining" the lore, again folks keep missing the point of this is to create a new lore, this isn't the same GI Joe, it's meant to be a new GI Joe beginning.
He also doesn't get any royalties or have much stake in this, as the writer of the comic he's not that invested in GI Joe and has never been one to hold his tongue on how the property has been handled, or how he doesn't care for other parts of the franchise outside of his own book.

I think he is showing as much displeasure as he can with out stepping on nerves.
He mostly talks about the fighting, but in the end he says:

Which makes me think he is only trying to say how his original story might not work for the current cooperate shills, and the political climate this movie is being made in. Only thing is that its not his story, and its not the same character. So what good does preservation do if it is a complete rewrite anyways.

The cartoons were far more popular than the comics even, and that is what most of the general public knows of these characters, what Larry did has no bearing to much of the public opinion.
It's not his story, it's a new story. Transformers has changed over and over again over the years, the fans have accepted that. Almost every comic book character in existence has had his or her story changed, redone, retconned, altered, in some manner... and guess what, folks accept it.
Larry's GI Joe is that, and it's still going and it doesn't magically go poof. This is a new take, and if anything he's showing some respect as they seemed to have actually gone forth and worked with him on it for once instead of other Hasbro projects where Larry had zero input. They don't have to do any of this either, but it's nice they have been catering to Larry at least.

This rings much like James Cameron heaping praise on Terminator Genisys.
Does integrity exist anymore?
I'm sure Larry Hama is very aware of what a shit show this is, but does he have to go out and stump for it?

Of all the fandoms I take part in, Transformers fans are amazingly resistant to change.
