It’s finally go time! G.I. Joe Classified is officially out in the wild hitting select retailers already, with the fan channels not far behind. We here at HissTank command have been waiting for this to happen for almost a decade, and it’s nice to actually have them in hand. And boy, it was worth the wait. Wave 1 consists of Roadblock, Snake Eyes, Destro, Duke and Scarlett. We are going to take a look at them one by one, starting with Scarlett. Read on to check out 30+ pics and some thoughts, courtesy of Dorkside Toys!
ICYMI – We’ve updated the HissTank Toy Database with a G.I. Joe Classified section. We’ll be updating that as the series progresses, filling in the pages with more info as well. Feel free to bookmark that to keep up with the line!
And don’t forget to check out our gallery for the exclusive line first – #00 Snake Eyes!
G.I. Joe Classified #05 Scarlett
First, gonna save overall thoughts on the line until the end, so check back Friday for that.
Scarlett is the figure that triggered a lot of discussion when she was first seen. Out of all of them, she has the most modernization, sci-fi feel to her. This comes through the most in her head sculpt, which has a video gamey animation vibe going on. For those looking to rock a real world line up of military figures, this isn’t it. Personally, I’ve always leaned a bit more towards future tech. Not full on sci-fi, but tech that’s feasible just down the road. The head sculpt is good, I do like it in hand. In pics online leading up to this, wasn’t a fan. But in hand, I dig it. The digital paint is very sharp, and it captures feminine features without going overboard. Weapons are solid, 3 knives and her crossbow. At first i was excited because I thought we finally had a single piece that wouldn’t pop apart every time you try to pose it – but, no. It’s two pieces, and pops apart every OTHER time you try to pose it, so a little better than 3.75. Paint is very colorful, and like the rest of the line, she’s got future techy armored bits molded into her. Articulation is solid, the whole wave is, but she’s missing the double jointed elbows. I’m guessing the thinner build didn’t (easily) allow for that. It didn’t affect my posing for the most part though.
Bottom line – out of all 5, she’s #4. I liked her better than I thought I would, but would prefer a little bit less of an anime head sculpt, a little heavier on a real world look with scifi sprinkles.
Check out some key shots below, with all 30+ after that in gallery format. Check back tomorrow for our next look at wave 1!
