A while back, we posted a news regarding Renegade Studios entering a brand new licensing agreement to manufacture RPG board games based on Hasbro properties. Transformers is one of them.
Creative talent at Renegade is working tirelessly during this ‘new normal’ period to complete their work and highlighted the same during an online podcast.
Elisa Teague, Senior Producer of Role Playing Games, stated the following:
“No, you’re not gonna be playing [as] Optimus Prime or anything like that. You get to pick up your own character. What kind of vehicle are you going to be? What is your motivation? What is your your rank? Are you an Autobot? What is your primary function? So, you get to create all of that and go off on adventures. That stuff is really exciting and it is coming along so amazingly and I just want to be out already, I know everybody does, but it’s been a joy to work on for sure.”
Additionally, she also highlighted G.I. Joe. It is likely that the gaming mechanic will be the same for the Joe brand as well.
News Post: Renegade Studios Share Tidbits On Transformers And G.I. Joe RPG Games
So like a G.I. Joe D&D? Hmmm. I like that idea.
What's with Elisa Teague's snarky tone? She's all like, "Noooo, you're not gonna be playing as Optimus Prime or anything like that!" Or maybe that's just how I'm interpreting it.
I'm also not loving the way she just sorta tosses G.I. Joe in there as an afterthought. Unless maybe I'm misreading that, too. Perhaps I should just listen to the podcast, actually.
Anyways, I want to be a Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo. Definitely a Decepticon. And my motivation will be promoting campaign finance reform.
UPDATE: Okay, so I watched the entire podcast. Though the majority of the interview focuses on Teague's own personal journey of self-discovery, they do (eventually) start discussing specific licenses around 39:21. Mostly talking about "Power Rangers", "Transformers", "Dungeons & Dragons" and some vampire thing I've never heard of (very little regarding G.I. Joe). However, at 44:16, Teague does say, "we're also going to be supporting these other properties with a lot of cool supplements, adventure books, so there's a lot coming that we are seeding right now."
Not to judge anyone without knowing them, BUT she looks like the exact opposite of a typical GI Joe fan. Just saying....
who's been f---ing up gi joe it's been agatha all alongBOM BOM BOMMM BOMBOM BOM BOM BOM
ANOTHER UPDATE: Googled "Geek Out! International" (a publisher of "Trivial Pursuit"-type things), where Elisa Teague has been "President" for 9 years. And while I still sorta suspect she may be a grifter, it is (nevertheless) great to see more women "making their mark" in the field. Maybe Hasbro should hire her, actually*.

* Plus, perhaps a female child psychologist as well (to ensure their toys empower girls/counter sexist stereotypes).
But in all seriousness if Hasbro actually gave a shit about the finished product they'd have Philip Reed and Steve Jackson Games on board. Experience with military and fantasy tabletop games. Literally has Hasbro as an interest on his Linkedin. Would know not to show up for a Zoom interview looking like what a villain thinks a hero looks like.
