Hub 2013 – 2014 Slate Revealed: No G. I. Joe

Posted on March 20, 2013 at 8:02 pm by Silver Optimus under G.I. Joe Renegades

Hasbro-Discovery Hub Television Network has revealed their 2013 – 2014 Program Slate and sadly… there is NO new G. I. Joe related programming.

Previously, we were told that G. I. Joe: Renegades is on hiatus and it might pick up where G. I. Joe: Retaliation will leave off. However, when the Hub 2012- ’13 slate was revealed, fans were disappointed that there weren’t any evidence to prove this (mind you, Retaliation was suppose to release June 29 last year).

Further cementing the fact that G. I. Joe: Renegades is never coming back, Hub 2013- ’14 plans revealed nothing G. I. Joe. Most of the Hasbro’s popular franchises are making a return or making new entrances but the same cannot be said about one of Hasbro’s oldest franchises; G. I. Joe.

What will the future hold for the G. I. Joe franchise on television? Would the popularity of G. I. Joe: Retaliation trigger a need for a new Animated Series? Is G. I. Joe gone for good from television? Have a healthy discussion over at HISSTANK’s “G.I. Joe Renegades and Animation Discussion” forum. [Read more…]

G. I. Joe: Renegades One Sheet Reveals Possible Future?

Posted on April 10, 2012 at 1:35 pm by Silver Optimus under G.I. Joe Renegades

During the days of “pre Hasbro-Discovery Hub era”, selected members from News Sites were granted Press access to learn more about [then upcoming] Hub initiative.

Today we decided to take a look at updated One Sheets for popular Hub TV Shows. (In the entertainment industry, a One-Sheet or One Sheet is a single document that summarizes a product for publicity and sales)

Something caught our inquisitive eyes; each sheet carried an expiry date for each TV Show. While mega popular shows such as Transformers: Prime and My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic carries “TBD” (To-Be-Determined) as the expiry date, G. I. Joe: Renegades however is carrying a fixed expiry date of September 17, 2015.

Now, this discovery as you can assume, can be thought both ways; either we will get around 2 seasons more OR G. I. Joe: Renegades is gone for good. It’s nice to see that we got 3 more years till expiry, but lack of an expiry date on other TV Shows while Renegades carrying one, can also be looked upon as bad.

You can take a look at the One Sheet and the Character Description Sheet after the jump. [Read more…]

Hasbro Studios Signs A Deal With Netflix

Posted on April 5, 2012 at 11:08 pm by Silver Optimus under G.I. Joe Renegades

Deadline is reporting that Hasbro Studios has made a deal with Netflix to stream their popular TV Shows including G. I. Joe: Renegades.

With the deal, we will be able to enjoy the first season of Renegades and other cartoons such as Transformers: Prime and My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.

G. I. Joe: Renegades was placed on hiatus after a hit Season 1. Fans were left disappointed with this decision. However, it is said that Renegades will return revamped with a story more close to the G. I. Joe Live Action Movie Series. But, no news is yet heard of such a project in motion.

Deadline says…
“LA-based Hasbro Studios has reached a multiyear deal across several platforms with Netflix for 10 television franchises Transformers Prime, My Little Pony, Pound Puppies, G.I. Joe: Renegades and The Adventures of Chuck & Friends are now available to instantly watch on Netflix. JEM & The Holograms, Transformers: Generation 1, G.I. Joe: Real American Heroes, Transformers: Beast Wars and Transformers: Rescue Bots will follow later in this year. Hasbro programming will be included in the Just For Kids section of Netflix — content specifically selected for children 12 and under.” [Read more…]

Do You Want To See A GI JOE RENEGADES ALMANAC?

Posted on March 5, 2012 at 12:11 pm by Shin Densetsu under G.I. Joe Renegades

Ah yes, GI Joe Renegades, it’s as if we hardly knew ye. With only 1 season, this series managed to have a rather devoted following here, 1 vehicle released and figures in 3 waves of the GI Joe 30th Anniversary line. Nonetheless, it is a series fans miss, and 1 that many recognized as having lots of potential.

Another series that ended earlier than planned, was Transformers Animated. While IDW managed to release a few comics after the cartoon ended, there was something more that came in the form of Jim Sorenson. Sorenson wrote the Transformers Animated Allspark Almanacs, full color books printed on gloss paper. The 2nd volume had numerous homages to GI Joe A Real American Hero, and there were even some homages in the cartoon itself(documented here).

Sorenson is no stranger to GI Joe. He is working on a GI Joe Ark Style Book, with way more material to pull from than his Transformers Ark Books. In addition, Jim Sorenson is a fan of GI Joe Renegades. The description of Allspark Almanac 2 states:

The AllSpark Almanac II captures the magic of the most whimsical TRANSFORMERS series ever with a wondrous examination of this amazing universe. This volume is packed with behind-the-scenes sketches, interesting facts, production artwork, and musings from the characters themselves. Relive the thrill of the final season of Animated and learn what might have been had the show continued. Hard-core fans and neophytes alike will find this an essential tome. You won’t want to miss it!

What if we had a GI Joe Renegades Almanac with the following? *Tweaked from the quoted passage above*:

The GI JOE RENEGADES ALMANAC captures the magic of the most whimsical GI JOE series ever with a wondrous examination of this amazing universe. This volume is packed with behind-the-scenes sketches, interesting facts, production artwork, and musings from the characters themselves. Relive the thrill of the only season of Renegades and learn what might have been had the show continued. Hard-core fans and neophytes alike will find this an essential tome. You won’t want to miss it!

So the question is, do you want a GI JOE RENEGADES ALMANAC? Let’s hear it Renegades fans! [Read more…]

No G.I.Joe On The Hub’s 2012-2013 Schedule

Posted on March 4, 2012 at 4:49 pm by C.I.A.D. under G.I. Joe Renegades

This past Friday, The Hub, a partnership between Hasbro and the Discovery Channel, announced their line up for 2012 & early 2013. Sadly, no G.I.Joe related programs are listed on the roster.

Although The Hub will continue to air programs such as Transformers Prime and air new shows like Littlest Pet Shop and Kaijudo Rise of the Duel Master, there’s no site of our favorite 3 3/4″ Modern Military Figure.

Although there have been rumors that there was to be a second season of G.I.Joe Renegades and other rumors of a new cartoon that picks up where G.I.Joe Retaliation leaves off…it doesn’t look like either have any foundation.

HissTank Renegades Storm Shadow Photo Shoot

Posted on January 21, 2012 at 12:39 pm by Tony_Bacala under G.I. Joe Renegades, Photo Shoots

Check out this photo shoot of the recently released Renegades Storm Shadow. Yes, it’s been out for a bit and seen before, but we have given the figure another run and hopefully some additional looks at what it can do.

This figure, when configured right, is a perfect companion to the Snake Eyes from last years POC line, and together are as close to “Masterpiece” level as we’ve gotten in the 3 3/4th scale. If you see one, pick it up! [Read more…]
