Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins 1st Trailer Out Now

Posted on May 16, 2021 at 10:47 pm by Silver Optimus under G.I. Joe Movie

Actor Henry Golding revealed our first look at Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins trailer at the 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards. The same trailer is out now on the internet.

Official synopsis: Snake Eyes, a tenacious loner who is welcomed into an ancient Japanese clan called the Arashikage after saving the life of their heir apparent. Upon arrival in Japan, the Arashikage teach Snake Eyes the ways of the ninja warrior while also providing something he’s been longing for: a home. But, when secrets from his past are revealed, Snake Eyes’ honor and allegiance will be tested – even if that means losing the trust of those closest to him.

Directed by Robert Schwentke (The Captain, RED) to a story by Evan Spiliotopoulos (Beauty and the Beast, The Nutty Professor), the movie features Henry Golding (Crazy Rish Asians) as Snake Eyes, Andrew Koji (Warrior) as Storm Shadow, Samara Weaving (Ready or Not) as Scarlett, Úrsula Corberó (Money Heist) as The Baroness, Peter Mensah (Spartacus) as Blind Master, Iko Uwais (Wu Assassins) as Hard Master, Haruka Abe (Slingers) as Akiko, Takehiro Hira (Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai) as Kenta, and Eri Ishida (Ultraman) as Obake Obaasan. Music by Martin Todsharow (Desert Flower, The Captain), Cinematography by Bojan Bazelli (Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Pete’s Dragon), with Fight Choreography by Kenji Tanigaki (Rurôni Kenshin, The Monkey King: Havoc in Heaven’s Palace).

Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins will hit theaters including IMAX and Dolby Cinema, on July 23rd, 2021.

Henry Golding States That G.I. Joe: Snake Eyes Is A Standalone Movie

Posted on November 9, 2019 at 11:01 am by Silver Optimus under G.I. Joe Movie

While on press tour for his latest movie, actor Henry Golding spoke about his upcoming movie G.I. Joe: Snake Eyes.

“[While growing up] I was a huge fan of the G.I. Joe and Transformers mix. It just blew my mind that those two worlds could coexist. So I had all those comics and to be honest it’s as lovely and amazing as the sort of romantic comedies are. There’s a physical challenge that I did not understand until I was doing Snake Eyes, in action movies; which is so tiring and [turning towards his co-star Emilia Clarke] like you’ve done the Terminator and you were beaten to a pulp and I can totally understand how tiring it is.”

He had a very definitive statement when asked about how G.I. Joe: Snake Eyes would fit in with the previous G.I. Joe movies; Rise Of Cobra and Retaliation.

“This is definitely a standalone. Yeah. I’m Snake Eyes in the film. It is his origin. It is him becoming who he is and I think people are going to be blown away with what Robert Schwentke, the director, has conceptualized. We have the best team.”

When asked about whether Snake Eyes’ face will be concealed:

“Well, I can’t give away any of that.”

Mr. Golding’s statement is a clear evidence that G.I. Joe: Snake Eyes’ connection to the existing G.I. Joe Live Action Movies is the same as Transformers: Bumblebee was to the Michael Bay Transformers Live Action Movies. It is likely that fans can connect to the existing ones but can also consider it as a soft-reboot with a potential to forge its own path later; if needs be. But, only time can tell.

G.I. Joe: Snake Eyes Live Action Movie Filming Starts Today

Posted on October 15, 2019 at 5:51 am by Silver Optimus under G.I. Joe Movie

It has been a roller-coaster ride. Various script ideas, cast changes, crew changes, director changes, delays, contingencies and many more. But finally, finally a 3rd G.I. Joe live action movie is being made and the filming starts today.

Directed by Robert Schwentke, G.I. Joe: Snake Eyes principal photography is set to take place from mid-October to early-December in Vancouver, Canada. Starring popular heartthrob Henry Golding as the titular character, the story for this new movie is written by Evan Spiliotopoulos with Bruce Lee films in mind.

The plot is rumored to be as follows (Warning: Possible Spoilers):

“When we meet this new, younger Snake Eyes, it’ll be as a street fighter in Peru. Driven by the desire to avenge the death of his father, Snake Eyes is apparently a man on the move until he ends up in Japan, where he and his best friend, Tommy, aka Storm Shadow, will begin their training with the Arashikage Clan. The film will see at least 3 of the clan’s legendary masters as they train Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow as Hard Master, Soft Master and Blind Master are all set to appear. Also present at the Arashikage compound is the film’s female lead, Akita. In comic continuity, Junko Akita was an apprentice and lover of Storm Shadow; here she is the head of security and will be a love interest for Snake Eyes.”

“Of course if it’s a GI Joe movie, Cobra must somehow be present and in this instance their presence is made manifest in what appears to be a character created for the film: Kenta. Kenta is revealed to Storm Shadow’s brother who has long since left his family, the Arashikage, and joined with a rival ninja clan, the Kurayami. It is Kenta who attempts to lure Snake Eyes away from the Arashikage and into a terrorist plot being devised by Cobra. We won’t delve too deeply into spoiler territory here, but we can see what side of things Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow will take and this film certainly seems to set the stage for one of the great comic book rivalries.”

Joining hands with Mr. Golding are Andrew Koji (Storm Shadow), Iko Uwais (Hard Master), Ursula Corbero (The Baroness), Samara Weaving (Scarlett), Takehiro Hira (Kenta?), and Haruka Abe (Junko Akita?).

Hasbro, Skydance and MGM will co-produce the movie, along with Paramount Pictures and Grackle Bird Productions.

As stated above, filming of G.I. Joe: Snake Eyes (under the working title ‘Grackle Bird’) will take place from October 15th to December 6th for an October 16th, 2020 release.
